The capitalists clowns at UK are crying already:

UK tech scene raises alarm over block to Microsoft-Activision deal

They can all get rekt for all I care. CMA put a stop on their dreams of mass consolidation and market control.
I hope the heat from regulators keep rising. These companies need to be divided and sold to smaller ones.

Cry me a river, clowns.
Bwahahaha tech giants upset that they're not able to make anticompetitive plays unfettered any longer? Fantastic. Hope the EU blocks this too so they realise they have nowhere to go.

Brad Smith and Bobby Kotick's rhetoric has become more harsh and downright hostile ever since the CMA blocked the deal. Let them go at it I say. Get as fucking mad as you want. That kind of attitude is only going to convince Sarah Cardell and her crew even more that they made the right decision. Any hope of succeeding during the appeal process is gonna go right out of the window with the way MS and Activision have been talking about the UK in the past couple of days.

Not that they ever had much chance of closing the deal with an appeal anyway.
At this rate i suspect the EU/EC whatever its called will block it too. When you have 2/3 of the most important regulatory bodies so strongly agaisnt the deal i dont see why theyd want to be the odd man out. I keep reiterating, no one knows what China will do and its known netease has an axe to grind and want to block the deal.

Not sure if it's the same author, but the financial times said this just before the CMA decision.

Which ended up completley wrong, lost some credibility there.

Also microsoft were advertising there "bringing COD to 150 million more gamers" bollox on the FT times.

Financial times are clearly doing some shilling here.
FT were also one of the two newspapers that ran Microsoft's full-page ad promoting this deal with the other being the daily mail.

Damn, looks like Sony made the Q-lite just for you then.

Every time I tried remote play it sucked, be it the from Steam or PlayStation.
As its own product, cool, could have done it years ago or release a Vita 2 stop gap console with all needed buttons for PSN(ow) game playing, and remote playing into PS4(/5). Fuck cloud and steaming for playing games.

Even 'I' think Q Lite is gimped if it doesn't have game streaming (if it's "just" Remote play). But if it does offer both, why is it supposed to be controller-shaped and not a new PS Portable device? I'm not 100% sure I'd pull an oversized game controller with a screen out on the bus for fear of weird looks. improved Vita form-factor, please, if there's a "Q Heavy" to go along with that "Q Lite".

We all know I'd like that to be a Portable PS4... But they do need to do some magic behind the scenes, because remote play is poor quality, game streaming is poor quality. We want portability, downloadability and buttons. Our devices can resync savedata and such with PS+ Cloud when we're back in WiFi area, but at least we've been able to play our games locally on the device in the mean time.

Was reading the GI Biz article and there's a point I keep seeing coming out of analysts' mouths that needs to be refuted. This decision does not punish innovation in a new market. Microsoft is completely welcome to create new IPs, develop new technology and make their games cloud exclusive to drive adoption of the cloud gaming market. Purchasing a storied 3rd party publisher and removing free market access from them has never and will never be considered innovation.

So the deal was blocked on the UK over cloud concerns when everyone assumed the CMA was not focused on that, but now everyone assumed the EU will be ok with the deal even tough they made cloud gaming their main concern all along? Are we in for another surprise?

I don't know I hate what the Q-Lite is supposed to be, I wanted a portable PS4 too. Just figured you'd like it because you seem to use remote play already.

Nice catch there on the naming, the existence of a Q-Heavy that runs games naively would please me.

In a few months I think.

Era user said some acquisitions by MS fell through because of this blocking.
So the industry dodged a bullet because UK stood up against shitsoft.
That is amazing, I didn’t see that coming.
All the anti-Japanese talk is still weird to me since Japan din't even try to block this, MS probably tried to make a move there, either that or Sony did.

Does Bobby really think that CMA or CAT will give them special treatment or something?

The man is a sociopath. Activision's working culture is poison and it's because of him. What's more, he wouldn't even do the noble thing and stand down after all the pressure that came his way. Wanted to sell ABK and get his golden parachute instead.

I don't see him hanging around after this deal falls through quite frankly. The reason he tried selling to MS in the first place was to get a clean and easy way out, and now that opportunity has been denied to him, things are going to get really awkward.

Stupid analysts. Buying things is not "innovation".

It’s only in crazy minds that consolidation = innovation.

The appeal is on the manner of whether the CMA made its decision properly. The appeal will not look whether the decision made is correct but whether the reasonable person would reach the same answer. The appeal if successful will only return the case to the CMA to review.
Pretty much exactly what's going to happen.
The deal will go through and Microsoft will own Activision-Blizzard this year.

It's funny how all the people on era who are supposedly against someone like Bobby Kotick suddenly trust everything he says simply because they want this deal to happen so badly.
They would literally suck his dick to get this deal approved just so they potentially won't have to pay $70 for CoD.

Makes you wonder what they would do in exchange for actual $70. I don't think we want to know.
