Xbox should go and portable/handheld.

Why? They have no appeal in that sector, and would get steamrolled by Nintendo and probably even Valve.

IMO, if they do any market shift, it should be towards PC. As in, reform Xbox as a Windows-gaming NUC mini-PC brand handled under the Surface division.

Imagine the cool form factor devices they could come up with for PC gaming if they did this. And PC gaming is MS's real gaming roots, anyway.

Era user said some acquisitions by MS fell through because of this blocking.
So the industry dodged a bullet because UK stood up against shitsoft.
That is amazing, I didn’t see that coming.

What other acquisitions did Microsoft have lined up? I'm curious on this, because they probably have had other ones in the works.

Shudder to think if they were also gaming-related and on any other publishers. If so, then yes it's a good thing the ABK deal is getting blocked by critical regulatory bodies. Just as if to think even having ABK in addition to everything else wouldn't somehow be enough to "compete".

Where it’s at.
The man is a sociopath. Activision's working culture is poison and it's because of him. What's more, he wouldn't even do the noble thing and stand down after all the pressure that came his way. Wanted to sell ABK and get his golden parachute instead.

I don't see him hanging around after this deal falls through quite frankly. The reason he tried selling to MS in the first place was to get a clean and easy way out, and now that opportunity has been denied to him, things are going to get really awkward.
Too many people don’t realize the reason he wasn’t fired was simply because you can’t make changes to your C-suite during a merger, by law.

They are saying a deal with Crystal Dynamics fell through but I doubt it. They already have a contract with Amazon for Tomb Raider and that will take years.

So, the only industry executives, investors and start-up entrepreneurs the FT cite are Microsoft, Activision, and founder of venture capital firm Blossom Capital, Ophelia Brown (who is none of the above).

Meanwhile...
