On the plus side for us, we get to see how competent or incompetent PlayStation is under Jim Ryan with these insights....

I'm hoping they are not as incompetent as I had been assuming the last year r two.
Even though personally i don't think they have done anything yet to really undermine the regulators position like the CMA, as the regulators aren't just thinking about sony when it comes to cloud, so one participants comments isn't really gonna hurt their case.

But it beggers belief that sony start making all this noise about cloud now. Not like cloud gaming is gonna take off in the next few months so why all this chest thumping now? Why give the cretins at MS anything to work with?

Their lawyers should be putting a muzzle on them until it's officially dead.

Honestly, the most annoying part of all of this right now is how biased the reporting is going to be.
Use this as an opportunity to see how biased, unprofessional and lazy the media is when it comes to pretty much anything. It usually goes mostly unnoticed because we are not knowledgeable enough about everything and we just assume they know what they are talking about.

The Xboss is up next

Day two of the FTC v. Microsoft hearing starts at 8:30AM PT / 11:30AM ET today. We’ll get to hear from Xbox chief Phil Spencer and from PlayStation chief Jim Ryan via a prerecorded video deposition. Dov Zimring, former Stadia product lead, will also appear, as well as Jamie Lawver, a senior finance director at Microsoft.
Judging by the exhibit list that both the FTC and Microsoft have submitted, it looks like Phil Spencer is going to have a busy day with the potential for us to hear more about Microsoft’s xCloud strategy emails, how the company’s Activision Blizzard deal came to be, and some details around PlayStation publishing agreements. I’d expect, given the fact both Xbox and PlayStation chiefs are appearing, that it’s going to be yet another day of Microsoft vs. Sony

Can I ask what time that is in BST

Hoping for another Phil Spencer meltdown like in the Kinda Funny Podcast.

Wtf MS was trying to buy SquareEnix?
Of course they were trying to buy Square to choke Sony out. I bet they were going to say it was all about Google tho 🙄

Either Square told them to fuck off. Or MS made an offensive offer to them

Just shows that Microsoft are out there to buy everything. They want to own the industry. Its not about making good games or some mobile strategy or adding content to Gamepass.

It's about having a stranglehold at the source and controlling everything.

I always had a suspicion MS getting congress involved was beyond just exclusivity deals in japan, maybe sony somehow had involvement on stopping a merger between MS and a japanese company? *Takes off tinfoil hat*

I would not be surprised.
Square has been buddy buddy with Sony for a while. While Sqaure was in the shits, Sony gave them back the stock they owned to help them out.

And Square released FFXIII on Xbox to thank them. Keep in mind, Sony was also having a hard time back then.
