The two companies are jointly evaluating global collaboration opportunities in various business fields
NCSOFT, a global premier developer and publisher, today announced that it has signed a strategic global business partnership with Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE).
The two companies’ CEOs – Taekjin Kim of NCSOFT and Jim Ryan of SIE – have met and jointly signed the partnership.
Under this partnership, NCSOFT and SIE will collaborate in various global business fields, including mobile.
The two companies are evaluating a range of potential opportunities with an aim to foster strategic synergy, leveraging NCSOFT’s technological prowess and SIE’s global leadership in the entertainment field.
“This partnership with SIE is the beginning of our efforts to build various synergies together, utilizing both companies’ core competencies, technological capabilities, and expertise,” said Taekjin Kim, President and CEO at NCSOFT. He added, “We will deliver a new and enjoyable experience to our audience across and beyond genres and regions.”

Did I like comments where you're unreasonably shitting on Sony? No. I share your sentiments that the current Sony leadership is not the best, but you seem to have taken that to an unhinged level. You said you expected 1 million PS5 sales already; that's a sign of someone who has let their agenda take control of their reasoning faculties. November-December is by far the highest selling portion of the year, unless you're buying into the xbot narrative that Sony has millions of unsold units sitting in warehouses and they're trying to cover up low demand?Appreciate that! I was assuming this was mostly mobile, given the struggles and reorg that have went on in that area for Sony. That said, NCsoft does have talent, its all on them to direct it into the console space.

Sony would be better to get specialists to make their MMO and Mobile games.
Rather than starting from scratch or getting their First party to do it.
This should have been the case with their GaaS push as a whole.

Wish they would keep them far away from PS though. Let the Sony Music group handle that, like they already do for FGO
That seems to be the goal. Sony will help ncsoft develop a stronger presence in its eco system, help ncsoft expand its ip into other media and they will probably adapt ps ip to MMOs or mobile. Sony gets a publisher with a strong mobile and pc presence especially in Asia, cross media ip , someone to develop projects without tying up its own studios and potential exclusives. Ncsoft has a single player action game in development a new mmo shooter, adapting blade and soul to console, a genshin style game and several other projects that would do well on PlayStation consoles.
How does it harm us though?
Sony isn’t developing these games and no one is forcing us to play.
Sonys divisions aren’t as united as we think.
Didn’t Sony Music/Aniplex give Demon Slayer to Cyberconnect/Sega when Sony/PS studios could have done a ten times Better job.
Sony Music and Aniplex have a wealth of Anime IPs which can be turned into PS games but we don’t see them do it.
Looks like Horizon MMO will be made by NCsoft and NetEase are developing Destiny MMO.
Getting some sort of exclsuivty or a publishing deal for crimson desert would be a big get if it plays as good as it looks IMO. mainly because I don't want any of those NCSoft monetization models to infect PS games
Shit's terrible for gaming as a whole
depends on how good the game comes out; there's tons of korean games that look shiny but are crap underneath
I assume that the deal would be:
- Sony helps NC Soft with worldwide PR & marketing support plus store featuring in exchange of getting console exclusivity for NC Soft games
- NC Soft develops some mobile games (with maybe PC or PS5 versions) of Sony IPs
- NC Soft develops or codevelops some PC (+maybe PS5+mobile too) MMOs using Sony IPs, like the rumored Horizon MMO
- NC Soft supports Sony in Korea regarding PR & marketing plus store featuring in local stores
- Sony makes some movie or tv show adaptation of some top or new NC Soft IP
It won't harm PS at all.
Sony will support NC Soft in some things (maybe supporting them with console marketing or making some movie adaptation) and NC Soft will support Sony in some other things (maybe developing some PC MMO or mobile game using Sony IPs).
Games like Spider-Man, Wolverine or God of War will continue as they are. If something, SIE's console games now will now have more budget to make more and better games thanks to the extra profit they will get with this deal with NC Soft.
If the deal would be with Sony Music instead of with SIE these profits would go to fund some music album instead.

Reality is Mobile and GaaS is where the real money.
If it benefits Sony it will benefit us too.

Yet apparently this all stems from the fact. I dared to expect better sales from Playstation in France = so apparently that makes me "unhinged" and "unreasonable" though Sony themselves said sales slowed across the board and so they were gonna do deals across the continent over the summer to meet their own targets? OKAY!

I don't care about what Xbox fans say, nor do I follow them or reads forums they post on, like so many of you do on here, who vicariously live on ResetEra and Install and then run back here to moan about them. If it wasn't for this forum, I wouldn't even know much about what Xbox fans are saying as I don't care...
I use Twitter and chat with fellow PS and Nintendo gamers who are actual friends and a few decent PS streamers. I don't get involved in fanboy online warfare, like some of y'all..
