I am of the mind that the cleaner something looks, the better.

So this is certainly a step in the wrong direction to me but not the end of the world either.

Another symptom of wider issues at PlayStation and Sony corporate and management level.

doesn't change that it's shit. I want to see just game key art.
News were fine below where I would never see that crap

That’s where it was until they removed the activity cards information.

But it’s still not something new. That feature was always there for developers to use.

By the the time more developers used it Sony added the resume feature and replaced it. Now that’s got all we are seeing is the accumulation of years of the news feed being used.

Its kind of funny actually.

That dude that said it was a bug deleted his tweet. I'm nervous. If this is an actual direction they're going in I'm not going to be interested in any Sony products going forward. Ads are completely unacceptable in paid-for hardware.
That seems a bit dramatic. If there was a huge Big Mac or Viagra ad on my dashboard I would still enjoy playing Astrobot. 🤷

I love high IQ common sense

The news feature on the home screen isn't even new, it's been there for tons of games already for years now, mostly ongoing service games, but it was obviously an opt-in feature for the publishers. How can you be so annoyingly kow-it-all when you don't even got that fact right? What happened today wasn't the rollout or test of a new feature. It isn't even a new feature. It was an old feature that today somehow randomly opted-in games to it which were obviously not meant to be. These games all had news on their dedicated, old news screen page before this happend and they were suddenly also on the home screen, but most of them didn't even make sense for a home screen 'ad'.

Where are you going then? Steam has the same when you click on a game in your library. Latest news about the game you're playing. It's not real ads about products, patch version 1.4.1 etc.

The news feed was there for 4 years. I thought you knew better than to jump on the latest bandwagon 🤷

Dude you can never tell these days.
When I see the same thread about Sony blowing up super fast on Era/GAF/Reddit, I know right away something fishy is going on. You can't take anything at face value these days.

Anyway, I don't think there's any platform/store with nothing at all besides the item you want and that's it.

I'm on Eneba, I clicked on Fortnite and I get "Gamers also viewed" with other games and DLC.

Same on Fanatical: screenshots, videos, DLC, bundles, user reviews etc

Sony uses the "Official News" section for basic stuff like updates, DLC or patch notes.

Example for Resident Evil 4: Gold Edition announcement, Free VR mode out now, Separate Ways launch.

Rebirth: Accolades Trailer, Launch trailer

Horizon: Lego Horizon Adventures, Zero Dawn Remastered, community spotlight etc.

I actually think it's useful most of the time. Is it really that bad?

Where are people shopping if this is an issue?
