Or cut off the PC peasants
Jim Ryan:
There’s an opportunity to expose those great games to a wider audience and recognise the economics of game development, which are not always straightforward. The cost of making games goes up with each cycle, as the calibre of the IP has improved. Also, our ease of making it available to non-console owners has grown. So it’s a fairly straightforward decision for us to make.

They have to stop coddling the most degenerate elements of their fanbase and release on PC day-1.
Valve and pirates will love it. PC becomes drastically more attractive as someones only platform.

The $400 dollars for a PlayStation and monthly fees for multiplayer can all go towards something else.

If PC is so important why R* a third party dev skips it on their releases? Their games even have a major GaaS component and they still skip PC on release. Sony has none of those incentives and have extra incentives to keep those games exclusives to their own console.

They're not going to stop under the new CEO. Because it's a no brainier.

Yea okay over 2 million for a god of war 2018 5 years after the fact is fantastic. Dude’s acting like a port that takes one month to get running is the same as a freshly developed game with a full budget.

Easy money. Great numbers

GOW is a bigger IP than Horizon by far. The idea being, GOW 2018 should've sold more copies than HZD on Steam/PC, not less.

That's one of the big points behind the PC strategy: to generate bigger sales for successive releases. Instead it's a downward trajectory, that is not what Sony wanted. Hell, it's not what ANY company would want.

PC is bigger than consoles for piracy, F2P and GaaS/multiplayer depending on the genre.

Yeah that is the case, but for F2P and GaaS it's partly because it simply has more games. So even if individual games do small numbers, there's so many that combined it all starts to add up.

I just like balking back at the idea it's "bigger than console" for the people who try lying to themselves thinking SF6's sales, for example, were majority on PC. Or even taking Capcom's own quotes about PC out of context, when they were talking about catalog/legacy title releases and not new releases insofar as PC being their biggest growing platform.

Literal common sense should tell those types that if PC were such a massive chunk of new software revenue, Capcom would be doing marketing deals with Valve. Like, some of these people just need to turn on their brains for once.

lol what do you think is gonna happen? Nixxes gets spun out?
Why do you assume Sony strategy is always optimum? Saying it's a mistake is not the same as saying Sony isn't going to do it.

They'll do it and that is likely going to be a big contributing factor to their ecosystem losing momentum and potentially becoming unsustainable in the not so distant future.

Of course, but its bad excuse, all of these games have been on sale plus 3rd party key reseller sites have them even cheaper than steam sales. They still can't come close to day 1 $60 sales
What I don't get is that those games are new games for them they aren't a protected class who should get them cheaper

They clearly are. You either do that or more of them are going to just pirate it. What a great position for Sony to be in.

PlayStation is getting exactly what they asked for a taste of how it is to publish single player games on PC. They'll then use this to justify pivoting even further to GaaS.

I'm saying it's a no brainer, it's easy money, and the evidence is that Sony keeps ramping up. When the next CEO continues enthusiastically pursuing PC ports, it further backs what I've been saying.

You, and co-thinkers are blinded by console war mentality to the point where you think you know better than Playstation what's good for Playstation.
