Resolution and fps are the least of Starfield problems. That game looks boring as shit.
I dunno, what we've seen of the gameplay loop reminds me of No Man's Sky fused with Fallout, and I do like both of those franchises. Not sure about meshed together, but we'll see.
What I don't get is the bizarre hype machine. Outlets talking about this like it's one of the most ambitious games of all time, potentially Game of the Decade, already a GOTY frontrunner, how it could revolutionize genres, bold new gameplay, etc. and it's... stuff we've already seen.

It's reminding me of the BotW hype when people kept insisting it was revolutionizing Open World games when it was just... an amalgamation of mechanics that have already been in open world games. I'm not gonna say that makes it bad, but MAN was it oversold. Starfield is giving me those same vibes.

I'm looking forward to it because it's a Bethesda RPG. I want to see more skill trees and ways to play though. If it's just a shooter, it will be a pass.

Starfield can be 60fps if it wants to be. But it'll run at 720p on Series S and 1080p on Series X. Those consoles are a generation behind.
I wonder what makes you think it's so demanding graphically? The game looks simple AF, it should run at 120fps native 4k on the series X for sure, maybe even on the S. I mean, Halo Infinite looks amazingly complex compared to this game.

It's not graphically demanding, it's just that the Series consoles are 'broken'. On paper, the XSX should piss all over the PS5, yet it can't even keep parity most of the time. The reason is the throughput and streaming of assets. Cerny is a freaking genius for how he has balanced the PS5. No Stability updates needed for that bad boy.

No way can the XSX render 4k@120fps. Look how fucking basic Redfall is, yet the XSX can't go higher than 30fps?! It can't even hold a locked framerate! On a game that looks worse than a PS3 game.

TF are theoretical, so no and yes to the statement. Thing is, never ever console reached it's theoretical performance. So you should look at the bigger picture, cpu, ram, other silicon.
PS5 is just did what never ever wanted or care to do, innovative the silicon. Others just do easy thing, put existing parts together and calling the day.

PS5 is a new standard for silicon going forward. Even PC must follow.

Part of the hype machine of starfield because xbox fanboys look at the game as a "win" exclusive taken from PlayStation

I agree and was aware that TF doesn't matter. I was just playing devil's advocate with what the XSX was touted to be able to do. Cerny and Sony have, like you say, set the standard for what a console/computer is and will be in the future.

I'm expecting Cerny to create a RAM/SSD hybrid for the next console.

This is not even ballpark correct. On paper, the Series X has a GPU horsepower advantage of 20% teraflops. A theoretical advantage. That's all. Their CPUs are pretty much matched with their clocks (Xbox allows for SMT off, PS5 has a - 0.1 GHz differential with SMT on), PS5 has a unified pool of RAM with the same bandwidth, the Xbox has 2 separate pools of varying bandwidths (that the system recognizes as one, lowering the overall speed to lower of that in the PS5). Their GPU is clocked slower, their SSD is slower, the PS5 has a lot more hardware "bits" that allow for processing power to be dedicated to games, not tasks such as audio or decompression.

Saying the Xbox Series X should piss all over the PS5 spec wise is wrong, and only fanboys bought into that argument because they have very limited understanding of hardware.

And one of the key features on the PS5 is actually smartshift. I'll let people figure out why.
