It's horrible news for them. They have zero meaningful presence on PC. So yeah they are basically on their way to being a third party publisher with a mobile gameA generation ago this would've been awful news for MS. But today the hardware sales are only one part of the Xbox strategy. Gamepass isn't solely reliant on Xbox consoles, and with the acquisition of Activision they have a massive PC and mobile presence. As for the big exclusives, there will be an avalanche of them in the next few years.
They don't have to worry about that after Activision blizzard acquisition since ABK alone has made more profits this year than Sony PlayStation. Profits margin for hardware is too small for both companies. So, hardware sales aren't going to make too much difference when it comes to profitability. It's horrible news for them. Nope they are 70 billion in the hole for ABK. They'll be profitable in about 30 yearsThey don't have to worry about that after Activision blizzard acquisition since ABK alone has made more profits this year than Sony PlayStation. Profits this year
Activision blizzard - $1.38bn(6 months)
Sony PlayStation - $0.991bn(9 months)
Nintendo - $2.72bn(9 months)
Electronic Arts - $1.21bn(9 months)
Need to chime in. Asset cost is not correlated to business as usual revenue & profit. If that $70b carries interest payments then only that interest cost can be attributed to the profit/loss.Nope they are 70 billion in the hole for ABK. They'll be profitable in about 30 years
I'm looking forward to when you get banned again, sleepy. They don't have to worry about that after Activision blizzard acquisition since ABK alone has made more profits this year than Sony PlayStation. This doesn't mean much since Microsoft got fleeced, no one is paying close to 69 billion for ABK anymore, its now worth 40bill at most and thats being generous. Why? because the asset value is transferable.
The "Nintendo fan" rushing to Xbox's defense as usualThey don't have to worry about that after Activision blizzard acquisition since ABK alone has made more profits this year than Sony PlayStation. This is false, like @Yobo said, their PC presence is minuscule. PC GamePass is operating at a loss and has pretty much already reached its limit and their games barely sell on Steam. Mobile has always been a joke, ABK will improve it a lot, but not enough to be significant. And by Microsoft's own admission, almost no one is using xCloud. 99% of people don't want to play Starfield, Forza, and CoD through the cloud on their phone or TV. Their only avenue for growth is the console, they NEED to sell more consoles, so yes it's still awful news for them.A generation ago this would've been awful news for MS. Turned out what I said in these forums at early of the gen is true.
Series was in worst state than Xbox One at launch in all fronts. But greens keep saying the buzz word was the best ever lol
Since launch is only downhill while Xbox One was at least consistent.
Quite likely, probably worth less then a used condom by the time MS is done with it. But still unrelated to operational revenueThis doesn't mean much since Microsoft got fleeced, no one is paying close to 69 billion for ABK anymore, its now worth 40bill at most and thats being generous.
This same post was made at Era word for word and a lot of people in that thread accused the poster of being a Microsoft shill because it reads like PR, either you're the same person, a shill reading from the same script (more likely) or mocking the Era post.A generation ago this would've been awful news for MS. Wow so it's embarrassing for Nintendo when PS5 titles sell anything near Switch releases.Hardware LTD
Nintendo Switch - 7.6m
PlayStation 5 - 1.9m
Xbox Series - 0.6m
Yes they will hide the cost of the purchase with accounting methods. Doesn't change the fact that every results going forward is now measured against a 70 billion price tagNeed to chime in.
