They should adjust and prepare themselves properly then. They have the money.
Fromsoft has released Sekiro, Elden Ring and Armoured Core since 2019. 3 games in 4ish years. And amazing games at that.
Insomniac has released Spiderman, Spiderman MM, Ratchet and Spiderman 2 since 2018 plus some others.
They have to do better. Otherwise by PS6 Its 1 game from each studio each gen. Not good enough, they must do better. They are the leading video game platform and probably the best in the industry, worth billions.
Fromsoft and Insomniac don't do any magic or "do it better" and don't release games faster than the rest of the teams. They take the same development times than any other AAA studio.
The difference is that Insomniac and FromSoft have enough people to work in 3-4 games at the same time, while other studios only have a single project at the same time.
In addition to make several acquisition including support teams, during the Hermen and Jim Ryan era they have been growing the headcount of all their studios to allow them work in more games at the same time.
ND, SSM, Insomniac, Guerrilla, Polyphony or their Japanese XDEV team (previously known as the 2nd party publishing Japan Studio XDEV team) are confirmed to be working on more projects than they ever had at the same time.
It's very disingenuous to be counting cross gens games to pad the PS5 list against the early years of the PS4. As those games are still on PS4 too... Which means you don't need a PS5 to play them
When it comes to in -house console exclusives tit for tat... The PS4 is still the winner launched aligned.
More than a year after the PS5 release around 70% of their userbase was still in PS4, PS5 was supply constrained and these games had been under development for many years without having the PS5 hardware, next gen engines or even knowing its tech specs.
So it would have been retarded from a business point to make these games PS5 only and wouldn't have been better in anything, would have been essentially the same games. To release them in both consoles was the right decision.
Even games still to be published like Helldivers 2 and Rise of the Ronin were under development during 3-4 years before knowing the PS5 specs.
