If you happen to only have a 1440p monitor that doesn't handle 4K output it sucks that you would need to play at 1080p upscaled to 1440p. Very situational but for people that already have a monitor or that don't want to pay a lot more for 4K monitors it's an important feature. Not to mention how ridiculously easy something like this has to be to implement.Man I absolutely have no use for this option, probably the two XBOX fans who always say "where is 1440p", will be pissed now, no, they won't be happy, I can assure you. They only spoke about it because XBOX had it and PS didn't.
Truth is, nobody uses this, why would I hook up my console to a 1440p monitor in the first place, 4k tv's have been dirt cheap for ages and the 1440 monitors I had just seems like ages ago.
Yet, I'm happy for options, especially for this feature, just to shut the vocal 1440p goons, even DF were on that bandwagon too. Hopefully Sony allows 120Hz system wide on PS5 next, this will also help with LFC for VRR. They also need to allow 8k at the video settings menu, even though there is only one game presently. I'm sure more games will come, even those who would do 8k with T.I, CB or FSR 2.0. In the end, Sony just needs to open up the bandwidth from 32Gb to 48Gb on the HDMI lane.
