What does that mean? Is it good?
60 CUs vs 36 in the PS5 base, and I assume a slight increase in clock frequency. Not bad, but not quite as big of a jump than PS4 to PS4 Pro (18 to 36 CUs and a clock frequency bump).

I’ll take it tough.

Yeah thy said it wouldn't be as big a jump (rumors I mean) but it might just do bigger and better things depending on what tht patented DLSS and ML innovation means and how it's implemented. It's not all about raw numbers as we've seen time and time again.

Absolutely. If there is an ML upscaler designed by Cerny, oh boy...

That big of a chip can't get a substantial increase in frequency even with smaller node. Also, it's already hitting 4k60 for some games so no need to double CUs to finally hit a benckmark frame rate. Remember that it is harder to fill a large GPU with meaningful work especially at high frequency, so it is really the biggest they could economically do in a console package and still cool efficiently.

Yeah exactly, custom secret sauce improvement that could only be done in a console because it is a singular spec is much more exciting and substantial than any raw numbers on a spec sheet.

Also forgot to mention but they have the BVH structure already in place in this gen for better ray tracing, but lacked the oomph in specialised units of PS5. I think they will have improved the specialised units in each CU along with the boost in number of CUs, and Pro will have really good ray tracing performance so that it won't be either/or situation in game profiles this time around.

Plus I think Pro will be digital only SKU but the slim edition's disk add-on will fit in along with it's plastic cover for people wanting physical games. This way they'll further cut costs and keep it at a lower price point.

The AI upscaling will make the difference.

Definitely, thts what has me anxious. Hell what thy did with PS5 was great with Kraken and the controller was imo the best innovation.

Hope pro isn't affected by these layoffs in terms of release delays or anything.

I am asking myself that if we really need a pro version or not. Sony has really talented devs and I think they proved that we can still get stunning visuals without pro versions. Horizon Forbidden West can be best looking next-gen game on consoles now. I believe Death Stranding 2 gameplay was running on base PS5. So okay, maybe we don't get native 4K 60FPS with ray traced visuals but do we really need it when we have these kind of examples? I played The Last of Us: Part II on PS4 Slim and it was stunning. You might say, "They are first party studio. Third party studios aren't that familiar with the hardware." and you can be right. But still there are third party devs that can put stunning visuals for base console versions. RDR II on PS4 was stunning. Games like RE4, Tekken 8, Dead Space, Alan Wake II, Cyberpunk 2077 have also next-gen visuals on PS5. Now this leads a question for me that "do we really need PS5 pro?". Maybe we'll get better visuals with higher frame rates but this will never end. I don't want consoles to become something like PC. We didn't have pro versions back in PS1-2-3 and all of the consoles had great games.

Some gamers wants it so there is a market.

But the jump will be lower than PS4 to PS4 Pro and it won’t reach the 4k dream yet.

Hardware in the last decade didn’t evolve enough for new generations sadly.

They need find new way because being tied to x86 APU will only harm in the long go.
