They seem to fall under VRR range so u should be fine

Like I said, I'm still going to buy it. Just disappointed.

As time goes on Boost Mode will be less and less important and it's more about back catalog items that don't get patches, but it would have been nice to see a lot of these games hit a locked 60 where possible rather than being sub 60 and need VRR.

Still going to buy, but disappointed with Boost Mode performance so far. Hopefully there will be a firmware update to improve this beyond 30-35%.

Df is using a trick, they purposefully use the hardware and software in ways it wasn't originally intended.

That 35% boost is a freebie, for games that currently don't support the ps5 pro.

For games that do fully support it, such as dd2, ff7 rebirth the difference is massive giving a remastered next gen experience.

DF wouldn't do that for MS machines.
Instead they read from a ms approved script, with background music. Both videos are very different from their normal content and instead look exactly like promotional content.

Note: pretty funny they showed hellblade 2, as promotional for xbox series x, when it launched.

Mentioned above that I know that these are Boost Mode games running without PS5 Pro native games.

I have a massive backlog of games that probably won't be patched, so disappointed to see that I'll only get 30-35% boost on these games when I was looking forward to closer to 45%.

Definitely something Sony should have clarified early on. I think they've really been poor about communication for the PS5 Pro.

None of this is the end of the world, but there are a lot of things that I think lose the PS5 Pro points that either impact me directly or don't.

  • Lack of integrated PS Link
  • Lack of updated controller for 4:4:4
  • Boost Mode seems below advertising
  • VRR but still no freesync
  • Extremely limited roll out of Anniversary Editions
  • Slim Plates don't fit (I don't know a slim)

Given the price of the console, I do think they could have delivered better here. I'll give them somewhat of a pass for the plates. Slim owners already have an advantage over 3/4s of PS owners who have the OG PS5 since their disc drive and stand can work.

Reminds me how disappointed I was when the PS4 Pro didn't launch with a 4K bluray drive, but the boost mode tops the list for me.

Edit: Let me also add that it doesn't appear that you can browse/filter PS5 Pro games on their website which is so poor.

Some of those points are valid, others can be patched later on. I just think that ps4 store was miles ahead ps5 store, which has a horrible search. Even exact matches fail sometimes.

Back on topic, because you purchased the ps4 pro correct also the Xbox one x?

Ps4 pro had really minor upgrade, Ghost of tsushima was still not stable 30 fps, no vrr.

But look at the difference with this game, its insane. From 30 fps to 58 fps now in the vrr range(DF even called a worse performing version of elden ring better on Xbox series x because of vrr).
Not only that but those graphics look next gen.

Sony needs to do a much better job with their store, especially if they're going to incorporate PC games.

I've never owned a Microsoft console.

I waited to play Ghost of Tsushima on PS5 with the Director's Cut version.

Is this Dragon's Dogma 2? Didn't they say it had bad PSSR implementation?

DF? Oliver is biggest xbox fan, keeps going on ff16 and ff7 remake coming to Xbox. Nxgamer is lazy, still no content. So I guess we can experience it for ourselves tomorrow.

Get outta here with your reasonable take.

He has the console since last week, the embargo was the 4th. Least he could've done for us is to create content.

/joke

But he will miss the opportunity, tomorrow we will be able to test is ourselves.

Also no joke, would be great if he would put out more content. To counter DF narratives. Without him DF would be left to own narratives, and we wouldn't have seen dd2.

Digital Foundry says Horizon Forbidden West has the best image quality of any game this generation which is great since I need to replay it at some point so I can play The Burning Shores expansion. Stellar Blade seems to get one hell of a boost which is great as it's my current 2024 game of the year. Really hoping to see Square Enix release a Pro update for Final Fantasy XVI since it's another game that I need to replay at some point so I can play through both expansions.

Tbf these games like elden ring are horrible optimised. Majority of games will be locked 60. I myself had to play the ps4 version of elden ring cause the ps5 version run horribly even tho looked exactly the same. Some shit makes no sense

Console reviews always felt odd for me. I guess it's because the reviews are premature since they are done at the launch of the console. Console reviews feel more logical when done at the end of that generation.

Why? You can analyse console at the beginning too, not just the end.
Controller aren't changing in 7 years, neither is hardware which is fixed. So you can reasonably form an opinion about the console.

The same could be said about software but it isn't how it works, imagine buying a game, and there is no reviews because wait 5 years for review when game finished development?
No, thank you.

Problem is honesty and transparency not how early reviews coming up.

PS5 rated the same as Xbox SX at release, one of biggest scams in gaming world.

Like I said, won't be an issue with most titles moving forward, but a good part of the reason I'm buying the PS5 Pro is the back catalog of games I want to play and play at greater performance. So again, 30-35% boost is seriously disappointing compared to an expected 45%.

If a game is hitting 42 fps for example will push it to 54.6 at 30% and 56.7 fps. 45% would have been 60 fps.

To hit 60 consistently a game needs to be consistently above 46 with boost mode, but 30-35 is also the high end of boost mode it seems as you can also see boost working as little as 15% in some of these videos.

Maybe I’m new but I didn’t know it was necessary to rate consoles.

7/10 is so lukewarm…do you like it or not?

Consoles usually get rated, but I think in this unique case it's a bit folly to rate it so early. Normally you would rate a game based on its launch titles.

There are several big name games for the PS5 Pro that don't run well on PS5. Some of which are getting updates and others which haven't yet.

To properly review this console, I think you'd have to look at games like Black Myth Wukong and see if that game gets patched. But I know for a fact that reviewers aren't doing thorough reviews across titles, especially problematic titles.
