PS5 already struggles with lack of exclusives and by porting games to PC they're making things even worse, it doesn't surprise me that they haven't met their 25 million forecast for this last FY
They’ve could’ve hit that 25 million target if they had more first party exclusive games they only had SM2. It’s still crazy PS thought they would reach those targets w just 1 first party game all while Nintendo release 9 first party games in 2023 & surpassed 130 million soon to reach 140 in 2024 & hit 150+ million by the end of 2025/2026 hell they could probably surpass PS2 if Nintendo made deep discount like a Switch for $200 & Switch lite for $150 even thoe I don’t see Nitendo doing that

It's been awhile since they changed strategy, and somehow some people still panic when we don't have the full next two years slate of first party games.

Here's a scoop for what's to come :

It's bangers
after bangers
after bangers

GOTY contenders every year until the end of time.

Struggles? Lack of exclusives?

Boi please they just had a record year, and Q1 was stacked with FULL PS5 exclusives.

Sit down.

Yuh I’m starting to think PS think it can do this PC port a year later thinking it doesn’t compete w Nintendo or PC & is above both of em even thoe you can argue Steam & Nintendo has stronger position in gaming then PS especially now that Nintendo doesn’t has to compete w a PS w exclusive a PS that was mandatory to play there games on there console & Steam benefits having PS games it further makes them a even more dominate platform & storefront in gaming while PS platform & storefront diminishes & gets devalued
If the Switch 2 ends up having even a somewhat decent hardware capable of getting third party ports Sony will be in big trouble.

Memba when Microsoft announced games years in advance?
Memba when they shit the bed on red fall, Starfield, hellblade and Halo and had to backtrack because of an empty line-up with no games?

You know, Sony, you really are the Microsoft.

This thread specifically says we still don't have the full slate lol

Every Sony Interactive Entertainment published game on PS5 is a first party game, so HD2, RotR and SB are first party.

Like I said, bangers after bangers after bangers.

I dont like this strategy at all or the PC push

but I cannot deny that they are still the only company pushing out game after game for me to actually play whilst everyone else is arguing online

As usual in their 2nd party games, there were way more PS Studios people working on Helldivers 2 than Arrowhead people, you can double check it on its game credits. In AAA typically only around 10% or less of the people working in the game are from the lead dev studioo.

But if you mean internally developed (meaning Sony owned studio as lead dev studio) first party (so published by Sony) games, for 2024 they have announced until now:
  • TLOUP2 Remastered
  • MLB 24
  • HFW (PC port)
  • GoT (PC port)
  • Destiny 2 The Final Shape
  • Concord
If you also include 2nd party games, meaning 1ST PARTY GAMES (published by Sony) with a lead dev studio not owned by them, then we should add:
  • Helldivers 2
  • Rise of the Ronin
  • Convallaria
  • Lost Soul Aside
  • Stellar Blade
  • Until Dawn (remake)
Then there's the 3rd party exclusives, which aren't first party because aren't published by Sony, even if Sony may have funded, or paid them to keep them some kind of exclusive:
  • Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
  • Granblue Fantasy Relink
  • Silent Hill 2
  • Other AAA/AA 3rd party exclusives I may forget
  • PlayStation Indie titles like Pacific Drive or Little Devil Inside
  • PlayStation China/India Hero Project titles like Phantom Blade Zero

Agree I think it will be on par w PS4 capable of 1080/60fps & 1440/30fps. Steamdeck is on par or slightly above PS4 it can play PS5 games at 1080/40fps which is fine for a handheld. It will be price at $400. Switch 2 can do some serious damage to PS pushing PS players to migrate to Nintendo the platform w permanent exclusive & now has more if not all 3rd party support + 3rd party exclusive Monster Hunter rise & exclusive Dragon Quest game

I think if Sony was smart they would slightly cut into this gen & release the PS6 in 2026 except the PS6 will be a hybrid handheld (to compete as direct to Xbox & put the finale dagger into them) that can play PS4, PS5 & PS6 games natively at 1440/60fps using some sort of ai upscaling priced at $500. It would also use the same model as the PS portal black & white color way & uses the classic PS logo color for the PS home button & the classic PS color for buttons to bring nostalgic. Sony would just have to support PS5 much longer since they would be supporting 2 consoles but I don’t think it would be an issue if Sony bought a publisher & gained scale to have some sort of exclusive (likely smaller games exclusive for the PS6) Sony would be cutting 1 year off the PS5 lifespan when it reality can last till 2028 w the PS5 pro

Even thoe Xbox is in a death spiral I don’t think it would be a good idea to let Xbox create a hybrid handheld that releases in 2026 (atleast according to rumors) that can play COD, GTA 6 & other AAA titles natively on a handheld Xbox would be the only handheld to play these games at quality & performance. The only competitor would be Steamdeck which Valve doesn’t promote so it’s not much of a direct threat

If it can run PS4 crossgen games well, it's already going to steal marketshare from PlayStation. With DLSS and the Series S holding back third party games that type of hardware will get incredible support, something even the Switch never had.

I don't see Xbox ever being a threat to PlayStation again, Valve and Nintendo have much more going on for them.

Yuh PS should answer quick with Xbox also rumored to have a handheld in 2026 Xbox could be the only handheld to play quality & good performance AAA like COD & GTA6 on the go with there Xbox handheld leaving a PS6 hybrid handheld in 2027 in a awkward spot w Xbox, Nintendo & Steam having a handheld that can play AAA games each one of them offering either permanent exclusive w a great ecosystem (steam & Nintendo) or in Xbox cases playing AAA games like COD & GTA 6 on the go (I don’t expect GTA6 to hit PC for a minimum of 1-2 years)

Looking at the PC port it’s just baffling & putting the PS brand, identity in suicide/crisis mode like Xbox. It’s so short sighted for short term profits at the cost of long term profits, competitiveness & brand identity. The conversation surrounding PS & it’s games is starting to bleed similar to Xbox when they went day 1 on PC. The whole conversation of “why did I invested in a PS5” & “why I won’t buy the next PS console & just further invest into PC since they have both Xbox, PS & PC games into 1”

Don’t need to explain this man. These people don’t get it. For some reason, people have a weird obsession with games that come from PS studios.

Because the games of the PS Studios are one of the biggest reasons why "these people" choose PlayStation instead of other platforms.

If PlayStation says "fuck you" to "these people" by reducing the output and the quality of the output, than "these people" will say "fuck you" to Sony, just like "those people" said and keep saying "fuck you" to Xbox.

It's really not that hard to grasp.

We already knew about them not announcing stuff too soon. The real news in announcing just a few 1st party gamesbthis year.

This site has a pretty strong community that cries doom every time Sony farts. I even called them out myself at times.

But can you really blame them?

You can't keep screwing around with these announcements. You need to go all in and tell people what to expect until the end if the generation. Their studios took a year off and there's no excuse not to show off what they've been doing.

Most of 1st party hasn't shown anything in 3 years or more. It's ridiculous.
