it’s not really a distraction but strategic positioning. All the major players are expanding and Sony needs to strengthen its position everywhere. Tencent, netease, Microsoft the Saudis are getting aggressive in Japan and tencent and eyeing south Korea. Microsoft has its eye on Japan also and both Sony and Microsoft are trying to avoid getting directly involved in China so South Korea is an obvious target. Also unlike a lot of Japanese games Korean games push visuals and graphics. The technical talent is excellent.Sony making South Korea a priority seems like a distraction unless they feel like most Japanese publishers arent going anywhere.
