You don't need to waste money on windows. Most Linux distros can run most windows games smoothly nowadays.+operating system.
Why is there no point? I play my games at 1080p 60fps what is the problem you have with it? It's a pretty commom build here in Brazil.
GFN requires a paid sub AND for you to buy the game to stream at 4K. I don't really see the appeal tbh.If you have a decent internet connection you can also use geforce now and Shadow PC to play all PC games at max settings 4k. This is also one of the reasons I stopped buying games on my PS5 because remote play looks like trash compared to those two services as I rarely play on a tv.
Guy talking about piracy as if it's his saviour in these rough times and then mentioning paid streaming services that can't be hacked... I smell something fishy @Sircaw your area of expertise, what's your take?GFN requires a paid sub AND for you to buy the game to stream at 4K. I don't really see the appeal tbh.
People like to sniff me; what can I say?Guy talking about piracy as if it's his saviour in these rough times and then mentioning paid streaming services that can't be hacked... I smell something fishy @Sircaw your area of expertise, what's your take?
Nobara, distro maintained by GloriousEggrolls, the guy behind Proton GE.Which distro might I ask?
Subsidized hardware that works at the click of a button (anyone who says Steam Big Picture can do it is delusional, I have tried and while it's workable it's also cumbersome as hell).Exactly why PlayStation shouldn’t port their premier single player titles. What’s the point of PlayStation then? Why should I pay for online and have more expensive games.
Your disingenuous takes and warping of reality makes me think you have an agenda but it's the internet so I understand. The ignorance or purposeful misinformation on your part is evident. Those PC issues are very real still to this day and there are still threads made of ppl having those issues frecuently but I'll let you tell it. As a matter of fact even with the steam deck which should be straight up plug and play ppl have had issues playing games and having to tinker with settings Shit I don't even game on PC (doesn't mean I've never gamed on PC) but work on them daily in my line of work and even dealing with them on a non gaming capacity issues always arise lolYour ignorance of PC makes me suspect that one day you'll buy a PC and turn on PlayStation. I've seen it happen many times. You list a bunch of reasons to dislike PC that aren't even real anymore (if they ever were). You don't need a RTX 4090, you don't need a computer science degree to operate it, etc. You also like VR if I'm not mistaken and you would love Half-Life Alyx.
I'm a guy that turned on PC (to a degree, that is why I dislike PS5 becoming too much like PC, I recognize the shortcoming of both) so I at least have experience of multiple decades playing on both. PC was never as competitive as it is today in terms of overall experience to play console like games. That is without even getting into all the other thing a PC would be able to do that a console can't.
If you want to build a $600 PC you'll be able to and will be able to enjoy all PS5 games if you build it right.
Yep this is exactly how i felt when I used it back in the day, granted its a good 4-5 years ago, but I literally found it a pain in the arse.(anyone who says Steam Big Picture can do it is delusional, I have tried and while it's workable it's also cumbersome as hell).

I have no loyalty to any brand so "turning on PlayStation" as if it's some fascist govt or political party I'm "turning" on does not live in my mind nor is it thst deep
No politics my friend on this forumWe all know you voted for Hillary, stop trying to distance yourself from her.
I'm not going to bother answering point by point anymore. My two years experience playing on Linux 99% of the time is worthless because you read an article. Let's just see what happens and who will be right in the end.Your disingenuous takes and warping of reality makes me think you have an agenda but it's the internet so I understand. Steam Deck - not ready for prime time or gamer families
The Steam Deck is a handheld gaming Linux PC. It's an attempt from Valve to bring their gaming library to the handheld scene, like the Nintendo Switch. About me I’m a father of four gamers and a gamer myself. We have two Nintendo Switches and my kids and I love them. Since my steam library has...tinkerdifferent.com
(the below is a person who has a steam deck and even then the constant tinkering is consistent. You can find dozens of threads about having to tinker with PC but of course the narrative is "no thts not an issue anymore ") Yup just ignorance on my part and on the part of millions more.
Constant Tinkering
The Deck isn’t a walled garden like Nintendo, Sony, or Microsoft. Most games in my library were not built with the Deck in mind. This means the onus is on you, the player, to configure everything, per game, just right. From controller mappings to graphics, to power profiles. When I want to game I just want to game, not tinker and read Reddit comments or proton db suggestions till I get something that will work.
Big picture mode was completely overhauled after the Steam Deck released. If you limit yourself to Steam it is a pretty straightforwards experience, if you want to do more than that it will require more set up but that would be a choice you made.Yep this is exactly how i felt when I used it back in the day, granted its a good 4-5 years ago, but I literally found it a pain in the arse.
No offense, but you are literally a minority of a minority.I'm not going to bother answering point by point anymore. My two years experience playing on Linux 99% of the time is worthless because you read an article.
Funny that you say it's vastly worse but I can change from my 1080p monitor to my 4K screen that is right besides it with my PS5 and it's very comparable. It's not like the PS5 is rendering all demanding games at 4K/60fps. If the game is not demanding there is nothing stopping you from playing on 4K as well. I can connect to a 4K TV an upscale too if I want, I just don't feel any need to do so.No offense, but you are literally a minority of a minority.
The amount of people I know who play on PC irl is not insignificant, but the amount of people I know irl or online who play on PC on a Linux distribution is basically just one: You.
The other thing is, the experience of playing 1080p on a budget monitor (assuming this because you proposed what is a budget PC, no one is buying oleds for a $600 pc) is just vastly worse from nearly all aspects.
If you don't play online (or play a F2P like Fortnite), and want to play on your TV, then the obvious choice is console. Lifetime cost of a ps5 with a low to midrange TV is far, far cheaper even with reduced game price on steam or epic.
PC wins a lot of things (like mods or emulation), but those things matter to a minority of people. The majority of gamers like the couch experience with plug and play execution. It's really not that deep.
A significant number of game releases already work with one button within SteamDeck.Subsidized hardware that works at the click of a button (anyone who says Steam Big Picture can do it is delusional, I have tried and while it's workable it's also cumbersome as hell).
