Makes you wonder why it hasn't happened yet. If they're going to be bringing the GaaS titles to PC, they might as well bring them to mobile too if they scale well to that platform.
There is definitely a mobile destiny on the way.
I don't think Marathon would run on it though
sony buying square enix woudl definitely close those long gaps, they just needs better quality control.
I mean square enix is already releasing multiple major exclusives on playstation, if they change the name people can stop crying about droughts

I genuinely don’t think Sony will buy SE. That ship sailed already. I’d be less surprised if Microsoft bought them out of spite at this point than if Sony did.

Sony is slow, they started in 2020 negotiations for Zee…still didn’t finish. I kinda believe some of guys want this horror scenarios to happen. Microsoft will never get Square Enix. You seriously need a break from all this deluded fanboys making podcasts. Iron Lord, Destin, Klobrille, Nick Shepsal stop giving these frauds attention. Sony will do countermeasures but that’s needs time. Square being bought by Sony is very likely btw.

The only reason they bought Zenimax is because they wanted to buy Bethesda we all know this is the main reason that happened. If Zenimax was willing to give up their main money maker Microsoft wouldn't even have bothered buying the whole publisher out.

Square Enix is suffering loss over loss.
Operating income down by 33%.

I doubt it.
They are going to have major YOY increases next year with Rebirth and Dawntrail releasing. The areas they are slacking in the most are MMO and Mobile and both those things will see increases next year.
This entire year has been carried just by FFXVI and it wasn’t enough to offset huge flops like Forspoken and no updates for XIV

Everything Jim wanted to move into is down. He really had no clue and just looked at what was making money and said "lets do that".
When GAAS and low effort games go up against a year full of high quality single player games, they lose. People want quality first.
It absolutely has, I was being sarcastic. I don't even expect major timed exclusivity between them and Playstation anymore

Even if had a decrease this year, mobile and MMO (GaaS) still make a big majority of their revenue as usual, their profits pay the development of games like FFXVI:
I think Sony won't buy SE, but instead buy may buy participation of some SE studio as did with FromSoftware (they may not but the studio completely) or to create a joint venture with them where some SE studio would be moved.
I also think they may do this in 2025 or 2026 once they continue making big acquisitions, not in 2024.
