G-Star, Gamescom, E3, Taipei Gameshow, Tokyo Game Show and many more in Asia in general.

All those shows were before or a little after he said he’s retiring. What E3? There is no E3.

Going to need more evidence than that.

It does. When Jim Ryan become appointed as CEO PlayStation has withdrawn from all sorts of physical events. That’s the evidence.

More specifically, when marketing became one umbrella fits all, and a guy like Lempel floated to the top. Obviously cost cutting and "efficiency" became a thing. We're in the "We're Nintendo too" marketing generation.

But where is this new change? We’ll have to wait until next year to see if Sony goes back to doing every in person events and conferences.

Sony will be in CES this January like every year, and they were in Tokyo Game Show back in September. In March there's the GDC, they normally are there too.

Sony won't go back to E3 because the ESA (its owner, the association of game publishers with presence in USA) decided to kill the E3.

They were not at TGS. It was a small booth for presenting indie games. There was not a single 1st Party or exclusive 3rd Party game shown. Sony didn’t attend this events since Jim Ryan became appointed as CEO.

Takashi loves spamming negative Sony news and spinning everything about them as negatively as possible. Wonder what they did to him. Though in this case he's probably trying to distract everyone from the Xbox multiplat discourse.

This is one of those cases where I'm willing to let it slide, if it means Sony shifts that towards gaming-related M&As/investments/share purchases instead. Would be better use of the money.

People like Bloomberg Takashi are so anxious to be negative about the company (maybe a former underperforming employee who was fired? 🤔), they don't realize they ironically might be setting up something good to happen 😉

Square-Enix is Son'y final boss level acquisition, once they get it they'll stop

their plan now is kinda block mainline Final Fantasy games from other platforms so SE losses money from the brand until they sell it off and keep going with what else they have or let Sony buy them out so they don't go away forever

SE is not that big and can be bought, Namco Bandai on the other hand is huge judging by the market cap of both companies
