Honestly this feels like more of a publicity stunt and last ditch effort to fix relations.

I mean look at all the support from Malaysian studios for Sony? Look at Genshin Impact developers? MS literally SE was their last chance at having any kind of pressense/Japanese relationship.
My question is why? Their userbase doesn't care about these games. I was just on the series x subreddit and a post saying that they wouldn't buy FF7 Remake if it came to xbox was highly up voted.

They should be focusing on the shit that matters; putting out excellent first party AAAs that can put the industry and gamers on notice.

Not pay for 13 year old games to be ported.

Or they are still acquiring SE and more than likely SE will run autonomously? For MMO's to survive you need numbers. FF14 is doing great, but having it on more platforms means its run will be longer. AKA Destiny. A game thats going on almost 10 years. This game needs to be everywhere for large player base.

Same with the Bungie deal.

More than likely though Final Fantasy mainline games will still be a case by case basis depending on demand.

I think the question no one is asking is why did it take xbox doing this badly for Phil to take a trip? Like how do you not see where xbox is overseas? Everyone praising phil, the guy showed up with a boatload of money.

More importantly there is probably a deal in place to bring it to their store for PC as well since its F2P to a point. The biggest thing was getting rid of xblive paywall to play a game like FF14.
Sony never had that issue nor did they stone wall FF14 when it launched with dumb crossplay clauses like xbox one had back in early talks for FF14.
FF7R is still staying on PS, FF16 wont be on xbox any time soon.

Let's see how this goes.

But my money is on MS is now paying shit tons of money, and is fitting the bill for PC stuff/streaming/cloud. I bet this game will be free to play on xcloud without needing gamepass at some point.
I'm not talking about Square, I'm talking about Sega. I don't see SE ever being acquired...

As much as I think Bethesda games are shit that is not the opinion most people hold. MS now actually has a pretty decent amount of studios capable of making quality games even before acquiring Blizzard and Activision.

Things take time and around 2018 when MS started to at least try to fix this their studios were just a complete wasteland.

Games are taking longer and longer to be made and I don't see Sony making enough moves to compensate for that, in fact they are actually making move to hinder studios with GaaS games and PC support.

“Things take time”

Ugh. Wait till next year right?

I don’t know what the heck is happening to so called PlayStation fans. You sound no different than a green rat.

It just an obvious fact that if you started to only invest seriously in 2018/2019 games won't be out before 5 or more years. Do you honestly thing that after buying Obsidian, Double Fine, inXile, Ninja Theory, Playground, Undead Labs, Bethesda, Activision, Blizzard and more things will stay the same? Wake up.

I'm not excusing them for being 20+ years in the console market without building anything of value but I'm not in denial that purchasing a lot of devs and publisher is a way to actually address that issue over time (even if it is a costly way to do it, MS can afford it).

Personaly, I found that the 360 gen was enough for me as far as MS being terrible at creating games and supporting their console, how green rats were able to keep the faith for two more gens is beyond me. That's an asset for MS, weirdly enough it seems like about 50m will buy an Xbox every gen no matter what for some reason I can't comprehend.

Because they can’t expand if they only provide the same games. Also, they must be aware that the whole narrative against ff16 is pushed by MS and want to stop this.
Notice how no one is talking about or apologizing for the game actually having POC on it? Weird, huh?
16 is the most diverse final fantasy, there are openly gay characters, there are black characters and the same crying bastards are not talking about this.

MS has already realized their biggest disadvantage against PlayStation all along was the lack of presence in Japan. PlayStation now has no portable console and own only 2 Japanese devs. MS is going to buy a Japanese publisher (likely Sega) re-brand their console, show up with a portable console in Japan next gen and then we are in for a very different type of competition. If MS has the courage to release something as trashy as the Series S they sure as hell would be able to sacrifice their minimum specs nextgen for a portable device.

Current gen is already settled, MS will sell about 50m console PlayStation will sell 120m+ again. MS will try one more time in 2027 or 2028.

PlayStation has no presence in Japan either.

They tried and failed.

In fact other than Nintendo and Monster Hunter everyone is failing in Japan.

PlayStation still benefits from close to 10m consoles sold in Japan every gen and use to get free support from Japanese devs that even resulted in many exclusives. Japanese support also translates in more sales all over the world every gen.

What about software?

That’s what is being discussed. You love moving goalposts.

Even with those hardware sales other than Nintendo and Monster Hunter everything sells like shit in Japan.

I don’t trust MS with anything related to game management/development. I don’t care how many studio you list. They mean nothing until there’s actually results. Not made up future possibilities.

My stance is based on historical precedent and facts, yours is based on guessing, possibilities, imaginary scenarios, and FUD.

I’m not the one that needs to wake up. I am awake. Awaken to the reality on the large differences in Sony and MS when it comes to gaming.

Can we quantify the type of games most Xbox players care about by way of Reddit?

If you think that selling about 10m+ and actually having a presence on one of the biggest market as opposed to not selling absolutely anything doesn't matter I don't know what to say. You think Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, Elden Ring, Dragon Quest, etc, are irrelevant?

If there is ever results its over, since they already get 50m by default with no result, you guys don't seem to remember 360 era MS. If we end up getting something like that combined with their current massive size and support coming in from Nadella it will already be way too late for Sony to fight it. PlayStation/Sony need to prepare for the worst case scenario not assume that Phil Spencer will continue to be unable to run the Xbox division.

Are those Microsoft exclusive now?

What are you trying to get at?

Elden Ring sold 1 million in Japan.

FF16 has sold 400,000 in Japan.

Heres Resident Evil Village for you

Who said anything about being exclusive to MS, you were the one saying they don't matter. They do matter, PlayStation still does drastically better when it comes to Japanese games that Xbox, it is it's biggest advantage over MS and always has been.

Yeah, every single non exclusive switch game is failing in Japan.
If true that makes it even easier for MS. PlayStation biggest advantage over Xbox already going down the drain.

Make what easier?

Sony is irrelevant in Japan. It is Nintendo land.

So you think third party Japanese games and close to 10m console sold every gen are irrelevant. You are clueless if you honestly believe that.

Yes clueless and so are Sony. You’re the smart one.

So much so that Sony even doesn’t give a damn about Japan anymore.

Japanese are only interested in Handhelds and Mobile.

Good luck Microsoft in winning Japan over.
