Meanwhile on the real world Sony is releasing more games on Gog and working on Forbidden West PC.
No hurries for this game on PC. There are better games to be released first (demons souls and ghosts most of all)

It would be completely backwards to announce PC ports of major first party games while at the same time trying to sell 25M PS5’s.

I too hope they came to their common senses and realize first party permanent exclusives are extremely important.
The evidence says that revenue from both their PS and non-PS businesses keep growing year to year (so no evidence of negative impact of the PC stuff in console business, if something it would be a positive impact) and that they are confident to achieve the 25M.

And well, they also still have a lot of games that can only be played on PS. In addition to this, these ported SP games are released on PC around 2+ years after the original release (the original game, not remasters/remakes) on PS, once they already sold most of the units they could sell in PS and often after having been included in PS Plus too.

Oh he was definitely fired. 2 people from upper management don't just retire a few weeks before you announce that some of your projects, which the said persons pushed hard, are being pushed back/reviewed.
This is nonsensical.

Why they would fire the most successful CEO than any console maker ever had when he has been breaking all sorts of records in all their areas, has been generating to them more revenue and profits than they ever had and when he has been successfully expanding their market in multiple areas (PC and cinema/tv adaptations)? Doesn't make sense at all.

Games get delayed all the time in all publishers. And obviously, the publishers who work in more games delay more games. Did they fire the Nintendo CEO because games like Tears of the Kingdom got delayed? Did they fire the Capcom CEO because games like Pragmata got delayed? Why didn't they fire Jimbo when GoWR, HFW and GT7 got delayed? The CEOs don't get fired because a few games get delayed, specially when they are performing at record levels in most main KPIs.

Naughty Dog on PS3
...

Naught Dog now on PS5 ( so far)

...

In terms of creativity theres a huge difference now isnt it ? Something deff changed there in ND
In the PS3 era they only worked on a single game at the same time (with the exception of Uncharted 3 + TLOU partially).

Naughty Dog is working on at least 3 new games at the same time, in addition to the released or in development remasters/remakes, plus getting the adaptations and PC ports. The difference is that AAA games -not only the ND ones- need way more development time than in the PS3 generation.

And well, their most recent new game is the fastest selling and most awarded game ever.

Revenue from PS and PC ports do not tell the whole story. It’s a long term affect. Look how people are saying “where’s the PC version?” None of those people will buy a PS5 to play TLOU2. The expectations are already set.

Not good. They need to fix that. Exclusives are important to a console.

We've heard the "new team is working on it" excuse before.

It was for TLOU1 "remake". I guess the new team needs a few more games to get good..
Do you think the all 400 devs work on this?

Yeah, people are definitely tired of this. Not a single new game announcement or release but have another remaster.

@SLB1904

All I know is that we've yet to see anything from them, even an announcement. And we do know their MP project was scaled back/reworked.

In the time another PS studio released 3 games, they had a "remake" and a remaster, along with some concept art from a game with development issues.

LOL! It's not a guess. It's an inevitable fact. And sure, I'll wait for the best version graphically.

I'm waiting for HZD on PC Maxed out to look as good as HFW on the PS5, like you said it would.

More than half is probably green rat fanboys. You know that.
You know what my worst fear is to see some people here behaving exactly the same as those bots ( defending whatever decision their developer does)

Naughty Dog during PS3 (4 new game)

Uncharted 1

Uncharted 2

Uncharted 3

The Last of Us

I repeat zero remake/remaster all those games are brand new

Naughty Dog during PS4 (2 new game plus 1 expansion)

TLOU remaster

Uncharted 4

Uncharted Lost Legacy

TLOU 2

Naughty Dog during PS5 ( so far 0 new game)

Uncharted 4+ Lost Legacy remaster

TLOU remake

TLOU2 remake

These recent patern are not good man progress are slowing down now ND not even trying to create something new along with some development like factions mode having setback and cancelled they seems stuck and devoid of new ideas you cant ignore this statistics

Not good. They need to fix that. Exclusives are important to a console.

Their exclusives are selling better than ever: TLOU2 was the fastest selling exclusive ever and sold over 10 million copies in barely a year and something, almost two. GoWR broke that sales record for Sony exclusives. Spider-Man 2 also broke sales record for Sony etc. For most Sony studios their most recent game is the most successful one their studio ever did. In recent years we saw many of their titles achieving numbers of 20M units, something they never did before.

With the comeback PS5 did in HW sales once they solved the lack of component very soon -maybe already happened- will outsell again PS4 in launch aligned sales. They are also getting record numbers from their game subs, and from money made with PS (including all 1st and 3rd party) games. They are also getting record revenue from accesories and PSVR2 and PSVR1.

All this while the revenue of SIE games outside PS performed this H1 with a 50%+ growth YoY.

All the facts say they are improving and mostly better than ever in all areas and that there is no fact -only your personal guess- of negative effect for the PC ports at all. This is the whole story in the real world.

The difference is that nowadays AAA game developments are way longer. For everybody, not only ND. People like Insomniac release games more frequently because they had more teams and people than the other studios, and have been working in 3-4 games at the same time since a long time ago, unlike ND and the other ones.

On top of that, Sony now announces games closer to release, meaning you have to wait more for game announcements. TLOU Online branched out to become a standalone game in 2019, and the other ND games under development started their development after TLOU2 release (we don't know when). TLOU2 was released in H2 2020, so being optimistic and assuming both games started their development in H2 2020 and we count the typical 6-7+ years of development, that would mean H2 2026/2027+ releases. And Sony no longer announces games 3-4 (or more) years before its release.

So it doesn't make sense to see ND announcing new games now unless they are developed by someone else (maybe something like VR spinoff by Firesprite or something like that).

I’m not defending them. I want a brand new game from them too. But online trash talk means very little overall. Most of them aren’t genuine.

By the way, a new AAA IP on the level Naught Dog makes is not going to happen overnight. It’s going to take awhile unfortunately.

I'm cautiously optimistic that not announcing this for PC means that Sony has pivoted away from potting their games. And would also add more ammo to my theory that Jim Ryan was fired
We'll probably have to wait until HFW flops on PC to decide if they're dumb looking stupid. Somehow i still doubt they'll get the picture even with Ratchet and Clank and HFW flopping back to back

People are associating naughty dog as a remaster/remaker studios now
Im excited for the remaster but this is hilarious 😂🤣 They could’ve easily avoided the backlash by calling it anything but “TLOU2 Remastered”. This would’ve been the perfect game to be called a directors cut.

You keep bringing up revenue and sales numbers. PS5 is selling well now yes and will continue to sell. But if Sony keeps putting their games on PC, or even worse, does day one releases, PS5 hardware sales will start to slow down.

I don’t understand why this is hard to believe. PC isn’t some niche platform. It complete with PlayStation. Sony has said this themselves.

There will be no reason to buy a PS5 if all first party games are on PC. Sony has already planted the seeds by people asking about TLOU2 PC version. There goes a bunch of PS5 sales.
