I wonder what he or MS thinks will mystically change in the future. It makes zero financial sense for competitors to have the "full Xbox experience" on their platforms. That won't change. We can see that in how, despite their recent acquisitions, XBox sales have fallen off a cliff and show no sign of recovering. There is no compelling desire for their product and so no reason to give them access to millions of customers they had no hand in nurturing.

Definitely seeing a new narrative forming. New buzzwords too - it's pro-consumer to bring the "Xbox experience" to all existing platforms, customers should have "choice" in how they purchase games on console (conveniently ignoring that PC is right there if that's what they want), etc. Whether it will only exist on the level of MS fanboys on Twitter or turn into something with any probability of actually happening is debatable. I see it as there's something in the water with the fanboys right now. Maybe it's simply that Xbox has taken so many Ls lately that they're just going off the deep end...er, more than usual.

Consumers have the choice of playing Xbox games on any number of devices they already own.

Unless they're willing to give 100% of sub service money on playstation/ Nintendo to them & it outweighs sales of the games on the service , it will never happen

I think some people are erroneously thinking that the Apple lawsuit can set a precedent for this happening. But a phone is a far different device than a console and Sony, for example, relies on their software sales to offset the costs of producing hardware. People like Jez can dream all they want, but even regulators don't have the authority to force a business to destroy itself.

The Apple lawsuit didn't do jack shit except uphold the status quo. The alternate stores being allowed is due to the EU Competition Authority.

Epic lost the Apple suit and is currently trying to appeal the decision. All that suit accomplished was airing some of Microsoft's dirty laundry, but nothing was reported outside of Apple-centric sites about that part of things.
