This is probably mandarin, I'm sure.

This is probably Cantonese

Had they not done these very stupid things and they would be fine, like many other emulators. But they had to try and be smarter by literally posting guides on how to pirate. That's why they got fucked.
Because their emulator was created to use for piracy.
They never intended to make a emulator for legal use 🤷‍♂️
The Pateon existing makes things ever worst... supporters of privacy will give $10 to Yuzu instead to buy legally their games and Yuzu knows that.

BTW I doubt less than 99% of Yuzu users ever brought the games they are playing.

One of the things Nintendo got out of Yuzu in the settlement was an admission that their product violates the DMCA.

This basically makes that settlement a win button in the fight to kill all those cloned repos.
this is crazy shit man. i sympathize with the yuzu people settling out of court, but they really stabbed everyone in the dick with that statement.

just to be extra clear (on a very confusing topic), they didn't say it VIOLATES THE DMCA. that question is not being settled legally, which is the point of settling. it's up to a judge to decide the contours of protected/prohibited behavior under the DMCA, not a defendant. but it fucking sucks and will certainly create a chilling effect on other emulation development. that's the game Nintendo is playing here. they don't actually want a trial and a legal decision, they want to use all their resources to get the outcome they want in practice.

the yuzu statement:
But we see now that because our projects can circumvent Nintendo's technological protection measures and allow users to play games outside of authorized hardware, they have led to extensive piracy

Two New Emulators will continue with Yuzu source code:

These people need to be careful! There should be rules/controls around committing with anonymous accounts and vpn. The suyu (sue-you lol) project readme says they're not getting paid to work on the emulator, but that is a misunderstanding of Nintendo's agenda. Working for free won't protect you, and will probably slow development progress.

But you can download the emulator for free? Without subscribing? Pirates are so cheap they'll steal games but they pay for software they can get for free? Come on. Lots of gaming hobbyists would support emulator development without being criminals, that's just the nature of such people.
That’s beside the point. Not only they had a patreon, they also encouraged piracy. There’s really no way around it: they had it coming.
