I don't think they get the nuance of who is actually buying consoles and buying games and what they want. To be honest I don't think Jim Ryan/Hermen Hulst get it either.

GaaS/Mobile/Cloud are all self fulfilling prophecies, where these companies pivot regardless of how the console market is behaving.
I don't mind them trying to expand in those markets, but going "all in" just ends up in a product that does not appeal to me.

Neither do I if it's done in a smart way that doesn't not affect their output of other types of games.

Clearly that was not what happened with this recent push for GaaS. I showed it here multiple time that this is what was going to happened based on what Sony was showing investor but people got mad at me.

Investment in internal GaaS games skyrocketed while budget for traditional game was expected to hardly grow over a span of many years.

*Digital Add-on: milking the customers cows.

Also, those growth predictions are usually made by people who think that whatever "trend" they see now (last year\trimester) will just keep going.

I wonder what the actual long term cost for PlayStation is going to be. I don't see this generation that is growing up exposed to these types of abusive games being PlayStation costumers for very long.

Well, if ND has two games in the pipeline, Santa-Monica has something, GG their thing as well is in the popeline and the other studios have other stuff that's not formally announced either I don't think there is a problem.

The issue is that we had years and years of output, so we are not used to Sony having drought anymore, certainly not this long.

The first two years of the PS4 were pretty dire, before things really picked up.

A lot less dire than what 2023 was or how 2024 is looking like it's going to be.

BC is what makes the PS5 output looks better than it actually was. With BC PS4 would've had GT6, TLoU, Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus and God of War: Ascension too.

What are the actually PS5 only games we got in the first 3+ years? What can realistically going to release in the next 2 years? (now that we know Wolverine is a game targeting 2026)

I don't care if a game is "cross gen", I love those 120fps modes and the "true next-gen" games like Allan Wake 2 make too much sacrifice on resolution to be worth the extra effects they get... but if there was no PS4 BC these games would have been mostly PS5 exclusives.

The Ratchet and Clank game was PS5 only.

I was just explaining how BC has to be taken in consideration when comparing the first 3 years output of internal games between the PS4 and PS5.

Too be fair, I also think games like TLoU Part 2 and GoT sort of count for the PS5 too. 2020/2021/2022 were great, 2023 was terrible and 2024 is not looking good at all.

The thing is once you consider development time we are just starting to feel the effects of the choices Jim Ryan and Hermen Hulst made.

I think that given what we know is in the pipeline and development times (4 to 6 years) we can assume that the type of games we like is either coming in 2024\25 and will be announced in the next few months.

Sony is not the pathetic social media drama type of company that MS is, usually they talk when they have something to show.

People assumed that for many years now with all the upcoming rumors of a secret showcase, that Sony was holding back, etc, none of it was ever true.

It's pretty clear that we'll be getting a much smaller amount of those titles compared to what we are used to.

Where it’s at.
Ms is run by a bunch of bean counters without talent or imagination. They see games that make money on mobile, they think hey we have "games" too, let's try to make our platform more like "mobile" or at least PC.

Also, the other business units make a killing on subs, let's push for subs all the way.

They don't seem to understand the context they are in and how the pre-360 xbox teams got their success (and may have been headed for much more relevance).
The pre-360 Xbox lost a billion dollars per year in operation.

If that’s success to you….

That's how it feels to me after this data as well.

With the recent rumours of Hi-fi Rush getting a PlayStation 5 (/and Switch) release coming from additional leakers, even more validity has been granted to SneakerSO's original claims.

Which XGS titles are multiplatform now? Betting on:

Avowed
The Outer Worlds 2

Both franchises (Avowed is in the Pillars of Eternity universe) have a history on PlayStation and are guaranteed to have sold better there than on Xbox.

Wouldn't mind seeing the original Wasteland remaster.

Which Bethesda ones? Betting on:

1. Indiana Jones
Disney didn't allow Blade to be exclusive and you have to assume whatever stipulation to revert to multiplatform development that there was in the Indiana Jones contract has to have been triggered given the abysmal hardware sales)

2. TES VI
Bethesda literally can't afford another Flopfield

Just reminding everyone of this original leak, where SneakerSO, who said Xbox was going multi before anyone else did, gave MS no quarter. All of their games are going multi. All of them. He called out Starfield specifically.

It may start with HFR and SoT, but this is the frog boiling in the pot scenario for Xbox console owners - they will learn to accept their fate as second-rate citizens in gaming bit by bit.

Keep this in mind as Sarah Bond tries to lie to everyone this week.

Oh yeah I definitely see them pulling some "oh yeah don't worry kids it's just going to be the old and small games that people don't care about" while secretly making ports of everything that can generate some profit to spring on them later. Xbox marketing knows that the xbox faithful will endure any sort of abuse because they always have
