Man I hope Sony are smelling blood and release it on the day of starfield release. Sony have the marketing power and the hype will be strong after spiderverse. Basically drown starfield.
Yep. If they are smart they would release Spiderman 2 the same time Starfield is released. They need to make smart choices

There is definitely an angle to it, drowning out a new IP with a massive release and marketing push. One or two weeks after it is probably the classy way to do it without inviting all the media shills to go into a crusade to help out Starfield.

I also feel like it would be a missed opportunity for Sony not to go hard on the BG3 marketing since it won't even be releasing on Xbox and will release just one month before Starfield.

They will have Starfield in September and already had some cool games on gamepass. Go ahead and dismiss a game from Bethesda that millions will enjoy because you want to make a point that's hard to make otherwise. With any luck Stalker will come out this holiday.

As a PC / all platform gamer all consoles suck, though the switch is good for the kids on car trips. I bought my PS5 for exclusives and only played Horizon and GoW last year. This year doesn't seam all that much better though I am fine with the Horizon DLC, FFXVI and Spider-Man 2. It's basically me paying 570 plus tax to play games that could run on my PC just fine. On Switch I played Xenoblade myself and Kirby and Sports with my kids. As a PC gamer I like MS's approach to gaming because they don't make me buy a stupid console to play their exclusives. The Xbone was terrible and I wasted ~ 400 on the thing after I sold it and played next to nothing on it during the first 2 years.
As pc player the "all console stuff sucks" its pretty stupid i never understand that train of thought

As someone that always played on PC, a console like the PS5 appeals a lot to me because how well it counters many of PC main issues.

With every botched port and stuttering game I lose more interest on PC and don't see myself ever spending more than buying a mid-range GPU every once in a while to play games without worrying too much about maxing out anything, chasing higher resolutions or framerates above 60. If devs cared to offer proper mouse and keyboard support on consoles I would lean even heavier into the PS5.

PC to me now is more about having access to Steam, deep sales and olds games/emulation more than anything else. I never liked mods, online on PC is usually ruined by hackers and I usually just get a better / more hassle free experience on PlayStation.

It's crazy because people are convinced Sony is scared of StarField and they will be suicidal to release it Same Day.

Being a Bethesda game by Howard, it has the tendency for decade support, while Spiderman will be hit for a few weeks and quickly die.

Not my words mind you.

i'll better play miles better game for 2 weeks than garbage for a decade.
more or less i tend to platinum games in one or two weeks, that's non issue.

good luck playing Fallout 76 for a decade while i finish, God of War, Horizon, GT 7, Returnal, Yakuza, Nier, Star Wars, Diablo and countless greatest games of all time while you keep grinding the turd :)

As someone who's always played on both PC and console and essentially dropped consoles during the PS4/XO gen... these consoles appeal less to me than ever before, because they're essentially just mid ranged PCs that are far less capable overall.

Consoles used to be unique machines with proprietary hardware that was completely different to the PC. They also had meaningful differences even between consoles of the same generation. Different consoles excelled in different areas with hardware that provided strengths that no other device likely had.. and they were really shaping the direction the industry could go with new ways of solving different problems that their own developers were facing. The developers pushed in the direction they saw fit, and it always provided new and interesting things.

Now... they're basic ass PCs using the exact same chip architectures as PC... Being more optimized for end-to-end dataflow is the only real difference.. These days it's even the same damn architecture between different consoles in the same generation. Developers used to create specific versions of the "same" game for different consoles of the same generation by actually utilizing the strengths and features of the platform which were unique. Now they all support the same shit and the only differences you see are some slightly lower resolutions and/or framerates, or minor graphical differences.

Not to mention that, but the more PC-like they've become the less console-like they truly are. It permeates through everything too, not just the hardware. You have to "install" games now.. You have to "patch" games.. You have firmware and OS updates to add features... you have to "log in"... you have storage space to manage... ect.. There's a focus on backwards compatibility which ultimately will inherently hamstring future consoles to specific hardware paradigms.. lest you give it up and lose it all. Once you get the games ready to play, load then up, you're presented with a bunch of choices now that you didn't even have to think about before. Performance mode... fidelity/cinematic mode... 120hz mode... RT mode... graphics options for motion blur, film grain, FOV....

At this point, all the stuff that was great about consoles is vanishing and they're just gaming focused middling PCs which get some special care and attention... There's so much overlap now it's just a waste to purchase every console.. Not enough differentiates them, and even less so to me personally now since both Xbox and PS exclusives hit PC. I much prefer PC where I already have a massive library of games, the best backwards and forwards compatibility spanning generations, customizability and flexibility, and option to scale above consoles.

I played Skyrim to the end in like 40 hours. Once I realize how garbage the gameplay and side quests were and how none of it affected the state of the world or lead to anything I just went along with the forgettable main story.

That's pretty much what happened with Fallout 3 as well but in even less time.

It's beyond me what people even do for 200 hours in those games and don't even get me started on all the accolades I don't get it at all.

hard not to feel for PS5 owners, really. All of their games are playable on PS4 and look nearly identical. PS5s VRR is half baked. Their top selling games are all in Gamepass (PS5 fans really only care about sports games and COD), even the ones they make (see MLB)

their controller battery lasts 2-4 hours, meaning they essentially have to play with a wired controller… in 2024. It’s also very subpar for FPS, since dual analog sticks belong in 1995. Sony duped them into spending $500 on another lack luster VR experience that has 95% oculus ports.

They’re required to buy an external HDD due to the small space Sony equipped PS5 with.

Their biggest game of 2023 is Spider-Man, the 4th Spider-Man release in the last 5 years.

Lastly, PS5 is hideously designed. I keep mine behind my entertainment center, because it just looks awful and out of place vertically OR horizontally. It’s also loud as hell, rivaling the Xbox one in loudest console ever made.

I take it you don't have a PS5? Because I have a PS4PRO/PS5 and a high end PC.

PS5 versions are pretty night and day. Looking at character models in Ratchet and clank the downgrade they would have to do for rendering would be pretty drastic on character models alone.

Horizon and God of war:R are great examples of scaling, and seeing Burning shores DLC with draw distances, and now more flying, shows the limits of last gen.

Next couple releases are going to start showing similar to Burning shores what PS5 can do when dedicated to one set of hardware.

Sony is so scared that they wanted to release Ragnarok in the same day as StarField… talks about fear.

And compare Niche-man, a know name that already build it fame, with Starwhat? The mean what exactly StarField means? It has no history or name at all…. It is basically surfing on the success of Skyrim and for now didn’t proved itself.

They are incomparables.

The only game this year on the size of Niche-man 2 is Zelda… StarField without the support of PlayStation won’t do Skyrim number and probably will fail to reach bigger numbers after all they lose near 50% of potential sales.

It will do alright for a new IP… > 5 million if Gamepasss doesn’t hurt too much PC sales.

I saved his PS5 booting…

I was indeed shocked… first time I hear a PS5 like that.

No1 cares what u play and how much u payed for it. Its your choice what u play. U re not trolling that ps5 has no games , are you?

U should be gratefull consoles exist. Otherwise 80% of 3p games wouldnt exist anymore from a.creed to resident evil.

You should be more concerned about state of pc gaming. Every other game s broken or unplayable, prices re sky high.

My PlayStation 5 is pretty damn quiet as is the Series X. The only time either make any noise is when im installing a game disc since the disc is obviously spinning but otherwise, both are extremely quiet.
