Now that you mention it, I've never met someone who didn't have a chipped PS1. Same for someone who didn't have to use the "upside-down" trick to play some games because of the laser.
Played on the first PlayStation shortly after the european launch, but only possessed an own one around the end of 1997, trading in a Sega MegaDrive and a bunch of games for it. Never skipped a PlayStation (console or portable) since then.
We all did. Imagine how easy it would be today to use the smartphones instead of proprietary buzzers, like they did with the PlayLink games (even a few quiz ones).
There you go, showing again how clueless you are. Yes, PlayStation being a newcomer in the console business had to rely a lot on 3rd party, yet saying first-party was non-existent when PS1 had games like:
- Twisted Metal
- Gran Turismo
- Warhawk
- MediEvil
- Everybody's Golf
- Cool Boarders

Trying to bring in younger fans, but release one of the very few kids-friendly games on a "platform for kids" and NOT on their own old-gen console. Brilliant idea.
