Maybe they should respect their paying platform base as well? If it bombs on PlayStation and then bombs harder on PC who really loses in the end? Gaming will continue without Sony, gamers can game without Sony... Can PlayStation exist without a loyal base?

Also, as a PC player who bought a PS4 Pro and a PS5 for the exclusives and ended up buying a whole lot of 3rd party content (read: thousands of dollars a year) on their platform, yeah that's a great trade for Sony if they let me just stay on PC

That’s the reason Sony is making GaaS and porting to PC.
Their whole model of blockbusters exclusives is not sustainable by itself.

After concord, the most significant flop in gaming bar ET we will see more PC/PS5 ports from legacy titles. Sony has to somehow recoup the money.
An each port is small but consistent and cheap revenue stream they can have perpetually. Since PS now also bombed they should use all those games from the PS2 days and up to being them to new platforms.

Funny how PlayStation suddenly is in desperate need of cash coming off the PS4 the most financially successful generation prior to the PS5... so how can they be having their most successful financial generation ever (Sony's words not mine) yet they are also sooooooo in need of money at the same time? They need to destroy their walled garden ecosystem to venture elsewhere??? Your logic isn't adding up.
You don't wanna admit the truth that the higher up Suits embolden to Shareholder's and their yearly bonuses saw how much money the brand was bringing in and hi-jacked the brand to squeeze it dry for quick profits at the detriment of long term viability. Because they don't value gaming.
