Definitely not for me. I’m not too optimistic tbh but I’m more in the “don’t care” camp. I love my online games but I also know which types those are. This ain’t it. And I just tried Valorant… and that helped cement my decision … didn’t like that either.

Yuh most characters are ugly asf only like 5-7 out of the 16 heroes are good to amazing design. They have some questionable design heroes.

I don’t know why people don’t value good characters design. I mean Tracer & Widowmaker are such iconic design they got fans making 3D models for the hub. Aswell as Soldier 76, Mc Cree & Reaper that are all amazing designs
If your characters don't get a rule 34 page then your game has failed. Tracer porn is more widely known than people actually playing her. They don't even have the backup of a legacy IP like dota had, look at lol they have korean k pop idol hero skins

Wow no sweating at launch? Sounds good to me

That’s not what that means. Skill-based matchmaking would make the game more “sweaty” and sbmm will likely exist in Concord as it does in all other shooters.

A proper ranked mode and divisions can actually relieve some of the “sweat” experience in shooters. So when hardcore players see “no ranked” they may be expecting 50/50 tossup bs matchmaking instead.

You won’t know till the game launches and meta gameplay known. Also… active large populations is probably so far the best way to lessen the sweat. The debate about this will go on forever.

Can't know for sure what kind of enthusiasm there is pre-release/pre-beta on PS5 but on Steam...
Concord hasn't even crossed 1k followers. The page went live on June 7th, it's been 20 days.
I don't think I've seen a clearly big budget game get this little traction ever.
Current pre-launch metrics is on the trajectory of shovelware games that releases nearly every day, it's real bad.

It desperately needs a VERY VERY positive reaction from its beta from the public or else we're looking at a true megaflop.
The reveal of Concord was the most violent recption I have ever seen. That and Fairgame$ is second.

At least the previews are good so we'll see.

Nobody will shed a tear if it flops but it still hurts watching Sony burn all this money. So many games they could have made 😢

I see no reason to believe it’ll “flop”. I’m not crazy about the presentation or vibe but feel similar about a Overwatch or Valorant. There’s something there to chase for sure.

That’s okay and a varied catalog of online games sounds like a decent idea. You don’t want to make 12 of the same game and so far they have a diverse line-up.

Depends on Sony’s own expectations. Helldivers was also a bit of an anomaly. Most fail and their product was different enough and came at the right time.

Concord has a lot going against it. Most players wanted a single player space action rpg even tho they were told it would be PvP 100x over. Those that listened figured maybe it’d be a traditional arena shooter. Now those players are disappointed too. (Arena shooters in the traditional sense are risky these days).

This beta means a lot for the dev team. If it doesn’t require pre-order I’ll play a few matches but otherwise I have no intention of spendjng money on it.

Avengers, Suicide Squad, Redfall, etc… all of these looked like terrible games from their initial faked reveals. For the capeshit games I figured the hype was just blind fandom. I don’t know how you couldn’t see how soulless, uninspired and weak in gameplay those all looked.

These red flags are not here. It’s not micro transactions or any of that. Forget the outrage part of all this.

I cringe just as much as anyone when “woke goes too far” but since Concord looks so much like every other hero shooter at a quick glimpse I feel like it’s getting unfairly shit on as if such. Which at this current moment in time is unfair to the game as we know so little about it.

You really have to start listening to what people say rather than just replying. Don't know if it is your poor English or maybe it is a personality quirk.

  • First party, Internal
  • Pure GaaS focus
  • Major title

No one would refer to PS Home as a major title. Again, you're doing gymnastics to try to make up for the fact that you simply didn't read what I said or didn't comprehend it.

You're still to this moment bringing up externally developed games.
2nd party games are also 1st party games and like 90% of the people working on them are from Sony or outsourcing teams paid and managed by Sony. You know that but try to count only the internally developed games to cherrypick.

In this cherrypick you could also include Concord because it also started as 2nd party, but you don't for your arbitrary cherrypicking because you think it will fail and it's the only one you want to count.

Same goes with the "major" or "pure", are just excuses to exclude the other ones in your cherrypicking: now stuff like Gran Turismo games aren't supposed to be major titles. And same goes with the GaaS that pretty likely had the bigger userbase and had dozens of licensed items from a ton of places, PS Home. Ok.

As I said there's no "pure" or "impure" GaaS. When they make a project to be potentially supported of years (if it works well enough) after launch it's a GaaS. It isn't GaaS if instead it's a game with no planned post launch development, other than maybe a handful patches or dlcs.

TLOU2 definitely didn't sell as well as Sony had hoped
Hard to believe when TLOU2 broke sales records.

Did Sony ever shared any sales estimate for it? No. Did they ever said something about not having achieved their target or about not being happy with its sales? No.

Just after TLOU2 launch they gave money to ND to grow from being working on a single big game at the same time to being working on three at the same time (+ remasters etc). That sounds to me that they were happy with it.

I preordered a while ago, not sure why I haven't gotten my beta codes yet.

The sooner this flops the sooner we can get back to true PlayStation games

Me when this game peaks 400 players on Steam and has overwhelmingly negative reviews 🤣🤣

Season 2 Dancing GIF by The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
How many CCU are people expecting at launch I’m guessing 25K+ with 5k-10K within the next few months.

Sony isn’t going back from this.

GaaS is where the real money is at.

They will keep chasing it.
I just rather see PS focus on live service w existing franchise that are for sure have a higher chance of succes. SOCOM, MAG, PS Allstars even a inFAMOUS parkour style 5v5 pvp would be awesome or a ratchet & clank 5v5 shooter could be interesting. Imagine a ratchet & clank pvp live service & its 100v100 & people run around as ratchet, rivet, dr nefarious, quark & other characters lowkey would be fun & could be funny asf w a bunch of memes similar to helldivers 2 launch where twitter was filled w HD2 meme

Agree with that.

When you have Socom, Warhawk and MAG in the closet why bother with Concord.

Weird that Sony has abandoned these IPs.

Good news the previews are positive about gunplay and fun that's the most important in such a title and my worry eased, I am getting my pre-order in. Actually find most FPS lacking this gen and this is the first one in over a decade from PS.

It's not weird. There is no one at Sony affiliated with those IP. Those IP never sold that well relative to today's blockbuster games, especially Warhawk and MAG.

These IP don't have the value that many people think they do.

I think SOCOM has the most of the three, but again, Zipper Interactive doesn't exist anymore. Who is going to make the game and who wants to make the game? You go into that so utterly constrained by what the fans of the franchises want vs what would sell in today's market, that you're better off going with an original IP that doesn't have the baggage.
