Enthusiasm for the PS5 Pro seems to be non-existent amongst most video game developers, with most claiming there is no need for it

To push really next gen presentation
games can’t reach 60fps on consoles.

But we aren’t ready to talk about that yet…
Actual exclusives can.
The problem multiplatform development cycles and terrible jobs when exclusive (Team Ninja)

Funny how this became a bigger story on reddit than developers wondering if they should continue developing for Xbox at all.

And the story came from the same source but the Xbox story was dismissed and buried by Xbox shills

Its not hard to see what a PS5 Pro will offer.

How many games offer native 4k stable 60fps on PS5? Like none

It will stabilize performance for games that struggle to maintain their targeted framerate while drastically increasing resolution and image quality.

All with no extra effort from developers.

So ask these developers who say they dont know its purpose e by their games arent native 4k or stable 60fps. That should easily settle any confusion

Guys, these Media are dead. You don't have to take your news feed from them.

What lol? They have to port games to this system, configure and independently optimize them...

Not any worse than PCs with its Gazillion CPUs/GPUs.

You have no issue with that. Whats the problem here?
General optimizations are done and brute force is a PC reality consoles aren't afforded, also a lot is handled by GPU manufacturers at a driver level.

Unless a developer specifically codes for this Pro system the benefits are limited to the original systems coding. PC's don't work this way, we have the bear minimal and maximum attainable from the onset, you're held hostage to a fixed platform and fixed coding.

The two are not the same, why do you think Bloodborne is stuck the way it is? Throwing more compute at fixed code doesn't do anything.

Its the same no matter how much you spin it.

It’s fine on PC with a Gazillion configurations and it was fine last gen with the PS4 Pro.

There's less work involved with general optimization, they don't code for each and every hardware configuration so please stop acting completely obtuse to this reality.

They also partner with GPU manufacturers for driver support for the titles which takes a large load off of the process.

When porting to these Pro systems they have to not only create a completely new configuration of operation, they also have to ensure it runs 'perfectly' which requires obscene amounts of time, debugging and testing.

It's a fixed platform, there's no slack, and no slack in optimization can be tolerated. It's not the same my guy.

Sony isn’t partnering with AMD?

Honestly it’s laughable that you think PC games need less optimisation than Consoles.

Are you even reading lol? AMD doesn't make drivers for these consoles, Sony and Microsoft code their own 'drivers' independent to their respective platforms as a part of their API's.

Also yes, general optimization is a simpler process than fixed optimization. One has a wide swath that doesn't rely on perfection in coding and can be brute forced via additional compute.

This is the very reason people say constantly "developers barely even optimize anymore and just rely on FSR or DLSS"...

Optimization around a fixed hardware configuration is far more time consuming as you must ensure that it runs great in all scenarios on this specific hardware. There's no settings a user can turn down if performance is all over the place.

Obtuse, obtuse, obtuse.

For a game to take real advantage of the additional compute or advanced graphical configurations and resolution it will have to be coded for it in specific i.e. ported.

If it's not ported it won't offer much benefit beyond the original system as it will disable CU's in the GPU to operate in its backward compatibility state the same as the One X and PS4 Pro do.

There's a reason I have him blocked. If he's actually trying to argue you need to 'port' games to the PS5 Pro, he's getting worse. You do have to tailor PC games for diff specs, and that's why it's a low return market that just doesn't make sense to support, but PS5 is very different and nothing like the dying PC market.

You have no earthly idea what you're talking about. What happens to a non-ported PS4 game when you put it in the PS4 Pro? The system disables half the CU's to maintain compatability.

Microsoft had to do essentially the same thing with the One X to maintain compatability. The benefit without porting gives a game a slight uplift from architectural efficiency increases and memory bandwidth (single digit percentages) but whatever state a game is in without a port to the Pro system it will largely be relegated to that.

You guys are all about this console stuff, die hards even and you don't even know that lol?

You forget that general optimizations don't work the same across different GPU and CPU architectures, which is why all the games are broken at launch on PC even with launch day drivers, then it takes a month or two to figure it out

That's literally what the word "general" in general optimization infers... A large accounting of configurations in a single sweep of optimizations, and on the GPU side AMD, Nvidia and Intel pick up the slack via drivers.
