It’s cleanest and runs best in combat but not in those same environments when out of combat and no enemies on screen. It has to be some borked scaler. I refuse to believe otherwise … 🤣.

I expect it to be dealt with by launch or in some short order. There’s no way man… I’d be disappointed if they slept on that.

Don’t sell me on action and combat driven FF with a botched action game mode 😑
I noticed the same! I also guessed it was because of low internal resolution/wonky TAA happening. Shouldn't be too hard to fix I think for a patch. Thankfully the actual gameplay/story is extremely good so I can overlook its minor flaws

The cutscenes are using in-engine assets right? Seems so.

What I meant by “uniformity” earlier is that the cutscenes are clearly of superb quality. Animations, effects, lighting the whole nine… and the cinematic direction is strong.

When it goes from that to in-game it’s kinda jarring in performance mode. It’s like “hey this is FF14! Awesome!”

Whatever post processing wizardry they’re doing in graphics mode makes that all a bit more seamless for sure.

It’s just a suggestion … but graphics mode is the way to go after playing the demo.

I can't relate at all, 30fps mode immediately felt inferior to me and insufficient while performance mode felt fine. If the frame dropped in the middle of a chaotic battle I wasn't focused on it.
Same for me. 30fps was notable choppy. Honestly other the town didn't notice any drops at all.
Again I'm using vrr

Don’t expect Forspoken treatment here. They have intimate experience with this engine and optimizing it for all kinds of hardware. I have few doubts it won’t be cleaned up.

30fps mode was really smooth and played really well. Unless they fix the performance mode, I'll be playing the game at 30fps and that's it.

Check out the eikon mode... I have no idea why i's called that. It's just another freaking quite big demo lol.
how much content can there be in a demo !!!

That other level starts you with the ring of timely focus and I played that level with it on. It's actually super satisfying landing all the evasions and parries with it. Obviously much easier than without it but still a decent challenge. That last 2nd part of the demo fight is crazy

I hate those rings. But it's cool for people that don't mind

After watching multiple streams i'm glad to see the blurriness was not just me. If they can fix that by launch and some of the low res textures this game will be a 10/10

Where it’s at.
I'll sadly not be able to play the game until the end of July, but I'm glad to see that people love the demo. I've got it pre-ordered, so I can start the game once I'm back home 😁
Btw., If you live in Germany, like I do, you have to pay 0,25€ for the "free" demo. They've done this a couple of times now and I don't understand why!?
Ratings.

The game is not suitable for children, so they have to charge something as a form of age verification. Giving it away might corrupt young minds!

I've been keeping an ear to the ground for word of mouth surrounding FFXVI, and it's insane how positive it is.

The worst, most scathing criticisms I've seen so far are simply the fact that performance mode isn't a consistent 60fps, you can't remap buttons, and the blur is a little aggressive. That's it.

Many huge streamers with tens of thousand of viewers were also super positive about the demo, and a few even stated that they're confident it'll be their GOTY.

I've already seen dozens of comments spread around social media from people who say they've never even played an FF game but pre-ordered XVI as soon as the demo ended.

Genuinely asking: when was the last time a demo was this insanely successful at generating hype?

Yep this is definitely the best demo i've ever played, showcased everything perfect about the story. and ended right on a note that would get people hooked. Square definitely knocked it out of the park with this game.

It's probably one of the strongest demos dropped ever

My only caution is that it definitely needs to open up a bit in the linearity part. But we were only playing a prologue

moistcritikal, a youtuber that usually gets millions of views per vid, put out a video saying it's the best demo he's ever played. That's going to be huge.

Only thing I complain about is the HDR. It's not working well at least on my TV. The scenes that has dark areas are dark everywhere.
Otherwise, Graphics are excellent minus few low resolution textures I noticed in that swamp forest area. Almost no pop up, mostly clean image, high polygon count, excellent PBR material, beautiful effects, and excellent hair render with no aliesing and no pixilation. When character moves fast you can see motionblur that can be annoying to some, but you never see those artifacts that are common in other games that are around character model.
