SE should scrap the Luminous engine for good.

They already have. Forspoken was the last project to use it.

They should scrap that entire team, not just the engine. Them being off Final Fantasy is the best thing to be excited about for FF16.

I’ll still wait for user impressions but even the reviews themselves are low effort.

Looking forward to see what SkillUp has to say.

I wonder how many reviewers rode o. The hate agenda train. The game is hated for months. Maybe they would be ashamed to give it a high score.

No matter. I will see it myself this week at least now I have low expectations lol

No offense, but the whole race card is a really silly reach dude...

Deathloop both characters are black and for the most part the game received high praise from a lot of people. When you character is well written, and the dialogue doesn't feel forced and is well done then it does not matter. The writing on the main character in Forspoken seems awful.

I really can't see the first part of that argument holding any weight at all, maybe with fringe one-person bigoted reviews but not for mainstream publications.

and let's be honest here, if you are upset by a black person playing a character in a video game, you are a certain type of special.

The racism card was used by shills and stooges to damage control the game looking as average as it apparently is. I wouldn’t put much weight on it being a factor.

No offense, but the whole race card is a really silly reach dude...

You misunderstand. I'm saying people will bring up a characters race, gender, religion blah blah blah as a way to praise or criticise a game and it's fucking boring. It was boring 10 years ago, it's fucking boring now.

I just wish people would play games and enjoy them or criticise them, based solely on their ability to be the game intended to be made.

Is forespoken a good action game? is it engaging, entertaining or challenging? Is the character relatable or detestable (depending on what is meant to fit). To a lesser extent, what are the technical abilities of the game? Is the sound good or bad? Do the graphics and artwork fit within the universe? etc.

Sorry for the rant.

Pass for me. Watched the ACG review and it basically looks like what I expected plus some annoying presentation and design issues that would bother me and an unlikable main character.

The story premise seems so trite and lazy. Black girl from nyc gets pulled into magic fantasy land. Give me a fucking break. That’s kinda insulting. Is that how they justify all the cursing?

I mean people sitting here saying haters are racist but that premise alone… is prejudiced?

Not normally, she is one of the more competent scenario writers in the industry.

She was the director and writer on the first 2 Soul Reaver games. Those games *STILL* stand as some of the best written games of all time.

Those are the only two games on her resume I actually like. That’s fair but I won’t be excited about it. At the end of the day I don’t value the writers as much as game director and gameplay designers. There’s Kojima sure but Kojima is a god?
