1 - Virtually no marketing for the port.

2 - PSN validation required for a single player game led to mass negative reviews.

3 - Dialog was sweet baby inc'd and is objectively worse than GoW 2018

More excuses.

God of War needed marketing?

The other 2 are complete nonsense.

Pretty clear you haven’t played the game.

Now you can play GOWR on PC (Steam) without needing a PSN account. Oh it must sting SIE, to see this community they've been kicking themselves in the nuts time and again to appeal towards, literally reject anything that has to do with PlayStation at the meta level while being perfectly fine with the Xbox log-ins, EA Origin log-ins, and log-ins for various other publishers who put their games on Steam.

But not Sony's. Ooooh no. But these are the people Sony want to chase after. GAAS. Rapid PC expansion on 3P storefronts. It's all the same BS they tricked simple-minded, gullible investors about in order to get their cash. And now this is the price they're paying for it. A sequel that won't likely exceed half the sales the prior game's port achieved, will generate even less than half of that game's total revenue (port), and now is the 1st of many future SIE Steam ports that will actively be targeted to disable the one network feature they wanted to propagate on PC.

The karma served back for corporate greed is a hell of a gut punch.

Serves Sony right.

Long may this continue until they start focusing on their loyal fanbase and consoles.

The ports will eventually dry up anyway.

There’s not much left to port and they have made peanuts.

Whilst literally giving people no reason to buy their consoles anymore.

Game wasn’t that great for me. 2018 was a masterpiece, Ragnarok felt bloated, disjoint and poorly written. It felt like a chore I couldn’t wait to finish.

But pc gamers not buying, Sony probably considering day 1 on pc by now to take advantage of fanfare and marketing to get better numbers. Let them try, and let’s see if PS sales crash along with it.

Honestly I hope they do.

Let Sony learn a hard lesson.

But there was no marketing. How were the PC players supposed to know one of the biggest IPs in gaming is coming to PC? if Jim Ryan went to every PC player's house to do a strip dance, then it would have sold better.

I'm pretty sure the game's been featured on Steam's front pages and best-sellers section for some time now. That's all the marketing you seem to need with Steam. Plus other games have big launches on the platform with next to zero marketing, why should SIE go spend tens of millions to sell them GOWR?

Also, the game has trailers for the PC release on Youtube, and was featured at the last SOP for PC. Given it's a port, that should've been more than good enough.

That entire post was sarcasm. Gotta mess around with the PC crowd a little bit.

Look at that, Frostpunk gave us the GOW and FF16 PC sales on a silver platter. 350k across all platforms on fewer days with a higher CCU.

We can extrapolate that GOW sold maybe half of that on PC (probably less because Frostpunk is selling better).

A low-selling indie game is selling better than GOW 😬
