Even with the discrepancy in dollar sales the difference in units should not be that big.Lifetime dollar sales is a poor metric given the disparity in prices. Should really only compare units sold.
Eh maybe, but I think it wouldn't matter if it sells less as long as it brings more money.Lifetime dollar sales is a poor metric given the disparity in prices. Should really only compare units sold.
We had GT games launching for $40 and $50 too... Those are all the best selling onesEven with the discrepancy in dollar sales the difference in units should not be that big.
Taking hypothetical full price comparison.
1.00m x $70 = 1.16m x $60 = 1.4m $50
So even with average discrepancy of $20 dollars you will have both close to each other like 1m to 1.4m or 2m to 2.8m.
Very trueWe had GT games launching for $40 and $50 too... Those are all the best selling ones
Looking at old data via WebArchive the numbers are really bigger than what I guessed. And this is America where gt isn't a big deal.
Taking inflation into consideration GT7 is way cheaper now than GT3 was when released. We also have to consider that on top of that, GT7 has microtransactions and GT3 didn't.Lifetime dollar sales is a poor metric given the disparity in prices. Should really only compare units sold.
It's not over 3 million and definitely isn't ahead of the GT 1 - 4 in units. GT1, GT 2 & GT4 were added to the Greatest Hits collection which were then sold at a reduced price of $20 which pushed sales even more... So using dollars isn't telling the full picture.Looking at old data via WebArchive the numbers are really bigger than what I guessed.

Even if we take the price difference the numbers should be really high for GT7... I was guessing someting around 1.5-2 million but I believe it is at least 3 million to be ahead GT, GT2 and GT4.
And what is even crazier is that Mat said it can surpass in dollar sales GT3 this year.
For that I guess it needs at least 5 million imo (5m x $40 avg ~ 7m x $28 avg ... 4m x $40 avg ~ 7m x $22 avg).
Heavily bundled in the USNever quote understood how GT3 was more popular than GT4. 4 is so far ahead.
Using GTS data we have lead to GT7 being over 3 million. It's not over 3 million and definitely isn't ahead of the GT 1 - 4 in units. GT3 as we know was heavily bundled hence the huge increase so I doubt that one will ever be passed.
That doesn’t matter.Heavily bundled in the US
Sometimes ppl buy the bundle just bcus of the game. I hate when ppl bring up tht bundle excuse. That doesn’t matter.
Circana has the data from much you are paying on the game or the console in a bundle.
It is not free.
Sometimes the discount is not even in the game but the console.
