The game is really fun. Plays well, guns are satisfying graphics beautiful. Didn't get a chance for coop last night but hopefully tonight. I think the score will recover over time as issues patched out and people who don't care about specific issues (e.g anticheat) leave their positive reviews.

Bodes well for PlayStation that the conversation around the success of this game revolves around a different ecosystem and platform and not PlayStation hardware itself. Whether the talk is about sales, or whether it's about reviews, user reviews and what's wrong with the game or not. /s

A sight to behold these past few weeks. The promotion of the game revolving around its performance and release on the PC platform.

Self-fulfilling...

Only a bigger ship.

Who would have expected this from a game considered niche and not promoted by Sony.

I have high hopes for Concord and Fairgames now.

Not to forget Marathon.

It was promoted all through this month, indicated by the fact the follower count more than double from Jan 9th till release.
But also, streamers being sponsored at release is an important marketing tool that they've used for this game.
Especially considering the type of game this is.

There were complaints it wasn’t promoted enough by Sony and left to die.

Just noticed the thing about Streamers. Which ones have been sponsored? There are several big ones playing HD2 on Twitch.

Happy to see the initial success. I was a bit worried a month out from launch thinking they were gonna send this out to die, but, thankfully they got it together in the last two weeks.

Extremely happy for the studio. Now let's hope they can act quick enough to keep the momentum going and amoothen out the experience.

There's quite a few people on my friendlist playing so color me surprised.

People who aren't gaming flatearthers know Sony released several trailers and other videos of this game, blog posts, included it in several State of Play/Showcases. Plus obviously placed ads. This game obviously didn't become Steam's top 1 best seller even before release because of magic. It's because it has been promoted.

Almost nobody in the gaming press or streamers got game codes until today. So today they'll start streaming.

In this trailer (part of the promotion that according to you doesn't exist) they show streamers and mention 6 countries when they mention a central intelligence hub, I assume they partnered with streamers from there:

Meh multiplayer life cycle game. These games start big, die, comeback ,stay stable, die , comeback, stay high, stay high. Jekyll & Hyde.

It will be, what it will be. The game selling is not impressive.PC numbers will be dog shit. The question Is if it has longevity.

They were complaints by people who think every game needs ads everywhere and anywhere. This a 4 co-op PvE shooter, it's better to be targeted with these type of games.

The sponsored streamers were much earlier at launch, you know because they have #AD and Sponsored by X in their title until the time limit.
I know CohhCarnage was sponsored so was Admiral bahroo he's one of the bigger variety streamers.
Those are two of the bigger variety streamers.
There were others, but that was earlier in the day and I can't quite recall.

Shroud was playing much earlier in the day at the same time as the other sponsored players but he's one of the few still playing the game.
If he was sponsored, he's most likely off at this point(he would be VERY expensive per hour).
Him still playing the game is a HUGE boon to any new shooter releases.
Dude has been streaming the game for the past 7 hours.

And I just checked his stream and he just lost a raid and he's discussing strategy with his boys, laughing and taking it seriously.

The game climbed all the way from Top 75 on Steam during the first week of the marketing blitz and kept climbing week by week. The marketing strategy clearly worked for Steam.

i think being a very good price helps a lot too.

A good price does VERY well on Steam with the overall global audience. Lots of countries who be "locked out" of buying the game unless the regional pricing would be very good.
