When that happens I'll criticise it, but I'm certainly not going to criticise hypothetical future monetization right now before it exists.

There are two types of progression: ship progression and war bonds. Ship progression unlocks different stratagems (orbital strikes, turrets, etc) that you can summon on the ground and can be unlocked with earned currency. War bonds come in two types. The free warbond which is like a battle pass that lets you unlock armor and weapons with earned currency. There is also a paid war bond with a few additional armor sets and weapons that will run you an extra $10. These must also be unlocked with earned currency. Many people seem to be okay with this but I imagine others will frown at having to pay an additional premium just to unlock the privilege of earning more items. At least the $60 version comes with the premium war bond. There is also a rotating skin shop.

Eveerine agrees generally the Gane is good and fun but on PC it is having major online issues and the anti cheat nprotect is also affecting the game. Hopefully this gets fixed soon on PC and console version doesn't have these issues.

How am I defending the game? I'm saying that people should expect a minimum of quality standards, which this game doesn't have. You're trying to pull a rabbit out of an asshole with that one.

And I won't buy for sure, I was considering it on PC, then considering on PS, but with the shitty QA and pre-installed malware, they get fuck all from me in either platform.
Let it fail

I kinda wanted it to succeed, but seeing this, I hope it fails at least on PC. So far it hasn't because there's quite a few concurrent players, but hopefully they'll wise the fuck up.

As for consoles, I'm fully expecting people to come up with excuses.

Only Sony can release a game on PC that makes sense to release on PC and have shitty QA in place to ensure the most impactful time to acquire players is met with Mixed reviews. I wonder where the celebratory posts, like the ones we had we starfield, are being stored.

Family saying that goes something like this: Anything that deserves to be done, should be done well.
SIE not passing the vibe check at all right now.

Game is still climbing a bit and is at 57k CCU~ even with the launch having many issues.
Clearly the game has a sizable appeal, but it wasn't ready for prime time and I'm sure people working on the game knew this.
Another case of management forcing a game out when it's not ready, becoming a bit too common in recent times.

I'm in on PS5, friend code #8537-0537. I logged in to make the tutorial and basic setup, will play in a few hours after work.

I named my ship "Semental de las estrellas". I assume Star Stallion in English, but stallion/semental has another connotation for humans in Spanish xDD

Seems like people love the game despite all the crashing and broken matchmaking. Hopefully they sort it out soon, sony should send over some people to help them sort it. Game seems like a hit

It will probably pass god of war by the weekend

Seems like PC players are mostly mad with it's anti-cheat system based on Steam review, typical.
for good reason, the anti-cheat installs kernel-level programs that monitor your entire system including the ability to log your keystrokes (big security no-no) and supercede your administrator powers. People are rightfully mad at a usurpation of their sovereignty over their hardware. It's the same reason Sony got a big backlash for installing rootkits to prevent piracy back in the early 2000s. It also has a tendency to be hard to get rid of and can brick your windows install if the program fucks up. That said... this particular anti-cheat has been around for a long long time and it should be relatively safe. I understand why people are skeeved out at the mere idea of installing a rootkit though.

Sounds like fearmongering and the rootkit scandal from Sony was almost 20 years ago.

If they are worried Jim Ryan is going to see their porn stash they can play on PS5 instead 🤣

That is what they get for not buying a PlayStation. :ROFLMAO:

Denuvo was spun from Sony if I'm not mistake, Sony has been long seen as a villain by PC player, this is not going to end well for either sides.

"The company was formed through a management buyout of DigitalWorks, the arm of the Sony Digital Audio Disc Corporation that developed the SecuROM DRM technology"

Had a few sessions this morning and I enjoyed it very much. Graphics looks better than I expected too.

Perks of working from home, gonna get in an hour more on my lunch hour 😁.

A friend of mine crashed outta our session as wel, so it's definitely a problem. Which is why public Beta's should be mandatory for every GaaS.
