Saw the vid. Hate it. Looks like cheap plastic and the current model looks far more classier and high end.

And doesn’t seem like changing face plates will be an option.

If this console is real, it seems like we went from carefully designed and thoughtful to designed by committee. I sincerely hope it's not real

I don't think they could make it slimmer since the GPU run at a pretty high clock speed, so they can't use a fan like this:
a45fbbca-eddf-41a9-9b68-1f05b29da5dc.077626b7c0c10fa785fe5dc3d728168c.jpeg

And using a smaller power adapter.

Also I think the suggested node chip is 5nm, which is 28% smaller than, compared to PS4 Slim
42% smaller.

Maybe if they protuded the body out to cover the gap left by the slits it would look a bit more flush.

Yes pls. Give me 4080/7900 xtx level performance, ill pay for it
Yea no. 7900 xtx is 130k card, 4080 is close to 200k.

Also 4090 is 300k what the heck, I bought 1080ti for less than 60k back in 7 years ago. It is US dollars inflation combined with real exchange rate decreaes?

I don't think 100k console would be a good idea.

Using serial number CFI-20xx, indicating this is PS4-Slim revision-like (smaller but not so much lol). I wonder if they will release the true "Slim' revision alongside PS5 Pro, goddamnit Sony I want to buy PS5, but I want to wait for true Slim revision 🤦‍♂️.

That's because DIY cards are sold at profit, typically 50+% and a lot more on high end cards.
The chip on a 4080 only costs around $110-120 to manufacture, add on a 30% margin and you're looking at $150 per unit, 16gb gddr6 is another $120-160. That's $300 for the main components, the build can be done easily for $599 if Sony takes low or 0 margins. But I'd be willing to pay $7-800 and I'd imagine a lot of PC players would to in order to get 4080 level performance.

You don't think AMD/NVIDIA will charge for R&D costs? They charge consumer products larger doesn't mean they won't do that with manufacturers, usually board manufacturers will take about 30%, 30% for retailers and 40% for chip providers, even though chip providers only of spend 30-40% of that 40% for wafers, the rest are for R&D and profit.

It's retailer verison of that cards, for consoles chip providers will charge board manufacturers less because of huge volumes, so it should be about 20% percent, because of R&D and profit. However, it also they in the cost of more wafer because of the CPU.

So Zen 4 CPU with 84 CUs GPU, you are looking at no less than 300 USD per contract of 20M units, because the die size should be around 500-600 mm2 even at 4nm. That not to mention the cooling solution, it will cost no less than 800 USD.

Likely this is the slim model.

They might do another slimmer one afterwards, like they did with PS3, but this might be it for the gen.

Going by the video.....I don’t like the way it looks. The original looks way better. Sony has a weird habit of making their later console designs look worse than the launch model. This new version loses the big nice and sleek look of the PS5.

What’s the point of the 2 lines? Are current side panels compatible with this model? If not why would Sony not want to continue selling them? That’s weird.

I might have to buy another PS5. The current design is so beautiful.

So what are people thinking the pricing on this will be?

It would make sense to go all the way down to the current digital editions price, as the new revision is basically a digital edition by itself.

But I wouldn't be surprised if they just go down to the discounted disc edition price that they have going in alot of countries.
I assume the same current prices: the current price of the diskless SKU for the new console without disk drive and the current price of the SKU with disk drive for the bundle of the console + disk drive add-on.

I assume it may not even be marketed as PS5 Slim, but just as a new minor revision of the PS5.

I don’t get it why people yearn for the pro so much. This gen barely started. Pro would just move the goalpost and make ps5 base a 1080p 30fps machine because lazy devs

300 dollars in US hopefully, or at least 350.

Not a chance lol.

They'd be talking some serious losses at that price. Sony mentioned earlier this week they will balance profitability with price drops, so they won't do anything to drastic with the pricing.

As Tom Henderson said, this was never a PS5 slim.
I got raked through the coals for stating this in another thread. The source of the leaks said many times this is not a slim, but a revision, yet people kept running with it.
