From ERA:

It's for public perception. They want to make sure that if the deal gets blocked the headlines are "CMA protects market leader, blocks Call of Duty from coming to more platforms"
IF this is the plan, I'm really not seeing it going well? I mean, do they really think throwing people at the CMA will make their case better? For real? And this take is false, CoD is on all platforms that are able to run the games.

Yes, the ad only reinforces that and it's not a good look. MS is completely out of touch with reality if they think this would make any change.
I agree. MS took out a full page ad to advocate this bringing COD to this mythical 150 million players they keep pulling out of their ass when a few weeks ago they claimed the ABK deal wasnt just about COD. Why not use this opportunity to advocate for other parts of ABK if they claim it was about getting a foothold in mobile?

Sony were right on the money about MS trying to negotiate this deal via the media.
Using some forums filled with employees trying to impose their views on the rest of us gamers. Now it’s a newspaper… trying to make gamers side with MS as if we can make this deal approved, all this is ridiculous, a cooperation trying to pass off as a victim.

From day one of the exclusive argument I have said that Zenimax games will come to PS5. I stand by it. Maybe they will be 6 or 12 months late, maybe they will lack DLC, but they will come.

By Xmas 2024, Starfield will be on PS5

This article is from 2020… I don’t think they will go to ps consoles, no.

Since MS is this desperate maybe now they can now rehire Ninja to help sway the CMA just like they did when they hired him to convince the public to follow him to Mixe...

I have thought of this too. It just doesn't seem reasonable, monetarily so, to exclude so many players. I'm not 100% certain, though, because it's unclear how much money MS is willing to lose in this endeavor. Some of the original reasoning, imo, was that these moves would compel new people to invest in their ecosystem but that hasn't been happening so far. Perhaps Starfield will be the test case for this, though.

That ERA poster makes the assumption that regulators should care about MS using the media to manipulate public opinion and should cave based on that.

Some notes from Sony's observations on the remedies notice. I'm adding the images as a spoiler so as not to clutter the view, please feel free to use them as you see fit.

Sony

[PAGE 1] - An interesting tidbit about the amount of Data provided by Microsoft and Activision

[PAGE 3 & 4] - This content will be further referenced in page 11 [Important since people are already trying to mischaracterise some arguments.

5mqwHA6.png

[PAGE 5 & 6] - Sad that it's REDACTED, but seems like the deal MS proposed already has some "malicious" intent behind it

[PAGE 7] - The Twitter argument

hmGJ1lV.png

[PAGE 8, 9 & 10] - More on the above, pretty interesting stuff that didn't make the news. There's some shade here I'm not a big fan of, but seems to be in line with what Sony has had to put up so far. These are very damning, especially in lieu of the redacted stuff. Fill in the blanks I suppose. And this one blows the "150 million players" out of the water.

[PAGE 11] - Why all these items have been listed, pretty much

Hope this helps with the most important areas.

Edit - I think Sony should have dug into this document and provide it to the CMA (if they haven't provided something similar): http://www.ecis.eu/documents/Finalversion_Consumerchoicepaper.pdf
So basically COD isn't about exclusivity (yet) it's a trojan horse to condition gamers to subscription services, offer Sony untenable prices so they can't do the same without losing hundreds of millions from a source that is currently providing hundreds of millions in revenue.

Either way Sony are coughing up hundreds of millions directly to MS just to compete or MS take COD to Gamepass for themselves . Get 20-30 million high spending and hardcore gamers expecting everything free and the COD base will become just as conditioned to spending no money upfront as the Xbox base is

MS are cutting the legs off of gaming and could eventually crash the industry when the only money coming in is a flat licensed fee and MTX

Maybe Microsoft was inspired by the invasion of the Capitol and Brasília…

There’s crazy people capable of going to CMA building and not leaving until this deal is approved!

I wish I was joking :/

I think that MS will lock the FtP part of CoD behind Gamepass. They did it before and it was anti-consumer Sony that first offered FtP games on PS4 with no requirement to also pay for a subscription of PSN.

I think Sony know this and they would have to charge people to access FtP CoD, which would make Sony look bad, but MS can skirt around it by saying "it's on gamepass, the best deal in gaming!"

They will charge the Earth for Sony to have MS games on PS5. But i think if CoD goes to MS it will die and Sony know it.

I have a feeling that Sony are playing a very careful and safe game of keeping a positive relationship with ABK in regards to CoD, while preparing to move away from it when it starts to die. There's every chance that Sony is eyeing up a CoD rival to throw full-support behind.

And who wouldn't want a Battlefield VR game? Cross-platform or not.
They already had a MoH one. It came and went.
