If the FTC takes the next step forward with their lawsuit within the next couple of weeks, it'll make things a lot harder for MS since they'll then have to fight them and the CMA. It'll also put pressure on the EU; Would they really want to be the odd ones out and decide to wave the deal through? The plan might be to make things so inconvenient, expensive and time-consuming for MS and ABK to continue this fight that their investors decide to abandon the merger. Now that every pundit, influencer, and internet poster thought the CMA was going to approve this and got a wrong. I'm more confident in my stance that the FTC has a better shot fighting this in court than most people want to admit. The Meta Within case that people like to trot out was so much smaller than this and much harder to prove a future monopoly. But on this one FTC will have all of the data from CMA's block and the deal is MUCH larger.
I encourage everyone to have a read of Furious Mueller's cuckbaby crying. He's a middle aged man having an absolute psychotic breakdown over this. Still in the denial phase at this stage.
One side safe space? And for people that agree with CMA docs? Are there a thread for these?Guess the mods want that thread to be a safe space.
More broadly, those sorts of claims are not borne out by the facts. The UK's games market is rapidly growing. It's doubled in size over the past decade to its current value of £7bn in 2022.
Last year the UK became the third country in the world to have a tech sector valued at one trillion dollars (£802bn). That's behind only China and the United States in terms of investment, and the first in Europe by some distance.
We continue to believe, as I set out, that the UK has an extremely attractive tech sector and a growing games market. We will continue to engage proactively with Microsoft and other companies. That won't change.
Amusing to watch the copium still being huffed since the CMA turnaround - you're grasping at straws fellas - and Sony's latest response looks unprofessional and desperate!
Any comments? I see you lurkingSigh.
Ok, watch and wait.
Yep.Turns out Sony was actually being pretty classy and MS proposed deal was in fact offensively inadequate. MS is fucking pathetic, all the theater and talk about them walking around with the deal...
Of course that Nvidia and all those cloud services without store fronts would sign while Sony, Amazon and Google would take offense.
If I was the Sony guys I would mock MS relentlessly going forward, drive them our of the console business and then blacklist them.
Jim Ryan is looking better than ever and this whole thing was not being covered fairly at all. Shame on Phil Spencer and that Brad guy.
It doesn’t even matter if they do, the CMA put the bullet in the head of the deal by blocking it.Then I don't see how could EC approve this with good faith.
Yeah, it’s PR BS.Yeah well they said the same crap about the CMA

It’s not even a feeling, it’s a fact. MS was stupid and went hard throwing money and lobbying on media in hopes this would get there somewhere, turns out UK isn’t USA where money solves everything. One final thing, ALL the experts, ALL the analysts, ALL the influencers were wrong. We had like the wal street journal telling us the cma was about to approve the deal just a few days ago. I now think all positive media about this deal has been fake and astroturfed and in reality it never really had a chance as we’re seeing.
Because they want to dominate gaming. MS dont stand not being leader in a segment it’s part of. They tried the same with phones until they got out. I wish they got out of gaming too because they’re cancer. My question is WHY is Microsoft going this hard for the Xbox division? They’re burning their reputation and money on failing division. Is it because they think they will control gaming with this or are they just that arrogant?
This isn’t us grasping straws, this is you having to contend with the harsh unrelenting reality that the deal is dead & now you have to keep looking for what Microsoft will do to Xbox as a brand because this is a serious jeopardy & a damning situation to their (potentially) decade-long plan for Xbox as ABK was the most important component for this to work in their view and it got fucked.Amusing to watch the copium still being huffed since the CMA turnaround - you're grasping at straws fellas - and Sony's latest response looks unprofessional and desperate!
Every acquisition, at least in gaming, will now be looked at through this lense, if that makes sense. Was coming here to post this. This is a bombshell and is likely the reason CMA laughed this out of the room. This is basically a poison pill that lets MS expand the reach of their game and get to keep all of the revenue. Those fake contracts were win-wins for Microsoft
