Never been more proud to be British innit.

Microsoft throwing its obscene amounts of money around in order to take games away from its competitors is a scummy practice, and I'm glad that some of these regulatory bodies recognise that and are doing something about it. Sure, the CMA blocked the deal on the basis of Cloud gaming and competition, but the console state of things was just as relevant, if not more so. It's nice knowing that this deal will fall through soon, and all those Activision franchises that were multiplatform will remain multiplatform, despite Phil Spencer's best efforts.

It also feels really good to see the likes of Brad Smith, Union Buster Lulu and anyone else that cheered on the consolidation of the industry getting ridiculed over the past couple of days. I've seen fanboys on Twitter and ResetEra acting distraught over this news, and it's like... yo, what are you upset about? You lose nothing from this. All those Activision/Blizzard games will still come to Xbox.

We know why they're salty right now. It's for petty fanboy reasons.

That resetera thread is just wailing gnashing of teeth. Those boys still cant believe it. Got to give em credit, they know how to keep hope alive!

Hey, remember when an xbot, i believe Bradtross or something was making a meta commentary about us on this site at resetera for how some of us suggested Idas was a MS plant, but he refused to here to participate? Where ya at big dawg?
Idas is actually pretty reasonable compared to a lot of the other deluded morons that haunt that thread.

The ABK thread on ResetEra does not paint a good picture for that site/community as a whole. But that's what happens when the administrator in charge of things is financially invested in the acquisition and wants it to happen. So much for being left leaning.

He might be reasonable but he makes sure he reassures the fanatics on the deal passing, it's there in his writing, even if veiled.

Tell the folks in the Playstation OT at resetera to make accounts here. We dont get banned for talking about gaming or for not cheerleading micrososoft buying out the industry.

Yeah, he goes out of his way to soften bad news and tell the zealots what they want to hear, but I haven't yet seen him act like a blatant fanboy like Hoeg or Foss do.

I totally can see a future where there’s no Xbox console and Microsoft just tries to peddle gamepass multiplatform. It would be their own stuff only tho but by that time they will have amassed a large number of dead ip.

The thing is, it's now apparent that they want to somehow avoid giving the platform holders their 30% cut.

Their plan is now clear, they wanted to buy ABK to side step the Apple Store and Play Store on mobiles and to force Sony to accept a deal where MS took 100% of the cut from in-game purchases (probably setting a precedent to side step the PS Store later).

MS is just cancer, they think it's their right to control everything and make money out of every human activity regardless of their merits or involvement in setting it up.

Bill Gates’ mantra in the 90s was “A screen in every room, and Windows on every screen”.

If that doesn’t make you want to puke, I don’t want to talk to you.

Yep, and to add to that, their whole strategy this gen has been buying and taking credit for IP they had no real hand in building.

What a cunt, I saw some of the document that were going around today from them in the 2000. Way worse than I imagined and I already had the lowest possible opinion of this corporation.

There is just something deeply wrong with them and their history.

Their idea of competition is pretty warped and sociopathic.

No chance of that happening. I got permanently banned a month ago or so for taking the piss out of the German fella from Digital Foundry a little.

We have a few people here that can spread the word there anyway... I'm not gonna mention anyone specifically.

I saw so many people get thread banned and perm'd because they were opposed to the acquisition, I was disgusted.

I don't understand why so many people here are celebrating.
This isn't over just because the CMA announced to block the acquisition.

Microsoft and Activision-Blizzard are going to appeal the CMA's decision. And because this decision to block the acquisition makes no sense (Microsoft already explained it) the CAT (Competition Appeal Tribunal) will save the deal.
The CAT will tell the CMA to let this deal pass because it makes no sense to block it. Microsoft will give them more informations about the cloud gaming market and in the end.... the CMA will approve the acquisition.

Just wait a few more weeks or months. This deal is as good as done.
90% chance it will go through.
