I think the fact that Microsoft influencers are deliberately and knowing taking quotes out of context i think says something about the state of this deal. IMO.
The fact that Sony is now having a showcase says it all. No need to hide it anymore.

At this rate I wouldn't be surprise if they announced on stage, on June 11, that Xbox is dead.

The full quote's already been posted here. It's a nothingburger

Thanks

Full quote
Speaking at the British Chambers of Commerce’s annual conference, he said: “When it comes to Microsoft, there was a merger between two American companies that the US regulator is seeking to block, and the UK regulator took the same view.
I think one of the reasons that companies like Microsoft and Google want to invest in the UK is because we have independent regulators that are not controlled by politicians and therefore they can be confident there will be a level playing field.
I would not want to undermine that at all, but I do think it’s important all our regulators understand their wider responsibilities for economic growth.

But for our tech sector, it isn’t just about being able to get through big deals, competition really matters.

Look at these shills trying to spread misinformation. The amount of paid shills is frightening

I think its part Xbox farm bot misinformation campaign part xbox podcasters who take super chats grifting and taking their hopeful audience for a ride because easy money, and part "Keep hope alive" from true believers. I do think xbpx influencers in particular should be looked at for how they sell fake hope, fake rumors, and bold face lie to their audience and get super chat money from them.

It's bizarre that the xbox fanbase waste their time trying to work for the console success instead of playing the games.

I disagree with the first half of this guy's post but the second half is interesting. Even some of the Xbox guys don't like FOSS.

This guy is in for a rude awakening. "Sheer value, the parties behind it." Fuck that noise.

Here's the only part that matters:

How embarrassing is it to be the EU regulator right now? You've got people questioning your integrity, and rightfully so, when you go against the decisions made by two superior regulators, including the strongest in the world, the CMA, WHILE AGREEING WITH THEM THAT HARM WILL COME TO THE MARKET.

You have to wonder if they're just looking to extract fines from Microsoft. You do wonder also if they were already on a predetermined road and caught unaware by the CMA's logical block, because now they don't get the fines down the road and they get ridiculed for their weak grasp of the topic, and of competition itself.

DeepEnigma has been saying they do it so they can collect fines when they breach the remedies...

All of the EU competition bureau’s decisions are like this.

They could give a flying fuck about market damage, as long as the fines roll in.

The spineless jellyfish haven't even released their full final report to the public, maybe that's how they do things and will never get to see it. IIRC the statement of objection was never made public.

I bet alot of dodgy shit can be found in their report.

If MS try and use the EC decision to support their appeal, hopefully CAT demand to see that report and laugh the appeal out the building.

CMA has been a whole lot more transparent throughout their process than the EU has, I agree.
