The head of Britain's competition regulator, Sarah Cardell, had defended its decision to block the deal when she was asked by the BBC if there was any way the mega-merger could go ahead after its "final report" blocked it.
"We have taken a decision to block the deal," she said.
The CMA letting everyone know which parties came crawling back:
"Whilst merging parties don’t have the opportunity to put forward new remedies once a final report has been issued, they can choose to restructure a deal, which can lead to a new merger investigation. Microsoft and Activision have indicated that they are considering how the transaction might be modified, and the CMA is prepared to engage with them on this basis. These discussions remain at an early stage and the nature and timing of next steps will be determined in due course. While both parties have requested a pause in Microsoft’s appeal to allow these discussions to take place, the CMA decision set out in its final report still stands."

I'm unwavierd and unconvinced. MS didn't just suddenly realized theirs a way forward with only a couple of days left. Theater. It's all been worked out and this is just theater. A deal is in placed and ready to go. MS is too close to the finish line now. It's too late to be stopped. CMA didn't have to do anything. From the reuters article posted on the previous page. If things needed to be any more clear.
The thing is: nobody really knows.I think people need to be prepared that this will be a big nothing burger from the CMA. If MS is so willing to jump back to the table even after winning the FTC case, it more than likely means the remedies are very light.
People keep mentioning partial divestiture. That might as well be true. You have to keep in mind that the CMA is interested in protecting the UK consumers. If MS decides to not publish these games in the UK, and transfer publishing rights to others, making them available to everyone there, they still win this.
They have the rest of the world to recoup the sales and nothing changes for them.
This won't turn out as good as some of you think.

Can you stop lying and spin everything.People really think the CMA didn't work things out with MS yet... They had no reason to do anything. They didn't have to let MS reconstruct anything. They could of said no, to the CAT we go! If MS though they had a weak case at the CAT and wanted to reconstuct the deal, CMA would of said no if they wanted the deal to die. *Yawn this thing closes. Stock didn't even really drop. It's at 90.
