The Brits, clever buggers, they got the time they wanted before they went to the CAT by letting ms agree to pause the appeal.

Lol that would be hilarious.

One thing is for certain is CMA hold all the cards to the success of this merger, as they always did.

If they block it again, abk will run if they don't already on the 18th. CAT appeals aren't booked straight away either, so yeah they could get their appeal date of october, heck even further out depending on how busy CAT is.

I guess it depends on how merciful CMA are feeling towards microsoft. But right now CMA don't need to budge at all on their original conclusion, MS have shown their weakness that they know they would have never succeeded on the appeal.

On another note the FTC has until Friday to appeal in which sources state they are leaning towards.
Late Joke of the day is this tweet by the luxurious Lulu yesterday.
"The legal system worked:
A fair and neutral court has reached the correct conclusion about Activision Blizzard’s merger with Microsoft based on facts and the law.
The judge’s ruling rejects the FTC’s ideologically-driven attempt to prevent a deal that benefits gamers and allows more competition instead of protecting the market leader."

Exactly, for some reason MS seems to once again think that the CMA will accept remedies that have to be monitored. The CMA will run out the clock, this defaults back to CAT appeal, the cma loses and the merger gets sent back to them for a 3rd review is how i figure.
This shit either closes next week or 2025 😂

I hope the FTC appeals today, in a different district/state with a different judge and better lawyers.

So heres a thought. Either the CMA or Microsoft is running to the media to save face. Between the two, who plays media games and PR stunts? Who has been running a pr campaign for essentially 18 months? Who has the most to lose? Who is the most desperate? I think we all know.

I dont know WHY Microsoft and their media team would misconstrue any happenings with the CMA but IF thats what theyre doing, that seems extremely desperate to me.
