The brief look I took in there was just gloating and talking about how they need to get Square and Capcom next so that Playstation can't have those games. It was always fanboyism and spite, not concern for the employees.
For now the acquisitions don’t bother me because I dislike games from both Bethesda and acti blizz. The moment they go after Japanese publishers is the moment things will start to annoy me.

I think Sony need to lock down certain key partners before it's too late.

It's not over 'til it's over and all that but, yeah, this is extremely disappointing news. I'll wait until the final decisions from the CMA and EC are published, but this backtracking by the CMA doesn't fill me with hope.

Nah Microsoft will never get a Japanese publisher. This bid argument is nonsense and is considered a hostile takeover. Trust me if there is someone who buys Square Enix and Capcom it’s Sony. People are downplaying Sony but they have the cash needed for it. Don’t forget Take2 is smaller by far than Sony and they acquired Zynga for $12B. Sony will need to protect their interests.

I think they will. something extremely dirty and sleazy had to have happened to make the cma do a 180 like that and i wouldnt put it past them to make d*ath threats. Sega seems to be the only pub playing ball with ms at all so i wouldnt be surprised if it were them.

Era is now starting to deal with the fact that Sony probably will buy both Capcom and SQEX lol
I mostly see them now cheerleading MS for their next purchase. As if 2 publishers were not enough? They have the largest first party network BY FAR now. They really just wanna see MS gobble everything up just so they can see them beat Sony. Its honestly fascinating, You'd think MS is some legendary developer that can do no wrong in that forum. But reality is they haven't done anything thing substantial in this industry since 2005 other than flex their spending power.

Chatter is that Microsoft tried to buy in Sega in 2022 by force. This was when they were cocky and saying there a not finished with buying publisher. Sammy Sega defended themselves and Japanese government blocked this hostile takeover attempt by Microsoft. Remember when Sarah Bind and Phil Spencer talked about they have a very big surprise to reveal? This was exactly in the time frame at Tokyo Games Show 2022. After that Sarah Bond and Phil Spencer looked very gloomy after TGS 2022 was over. Their hostile takeover attempt was blocked by the Japanese government.
