So it only picks the account owner as the user?
Yeah, it’s tied to it.

You can in theory log out of psn on the portal and log in another user, then connect to ps5 with that account. Issue is, it’s not pickup and play like a controller, and guaranteed many minutes of screwing around each time.

Single user gamers won’t ever notice such a shortcoming- but for me and with 2 kids that also play it’s simply inadequate. Hoping for Sony wake up and patch one day.

I’d very much like to see a study on where the latency bottlenecks are. With any luck most of it sits on the encoding process on the ps5, meaning a ps5 pro could in theory shave this down creating an even better experience.

If the ps5 pro rumors on rdna3 rumors are true (i doubt it, but could be wrong), it should help as rdna3 has hardware support for av1 encoding. If they update the portal to support that it should be a much better experience.

Sony and updates are quintessential Soony
And?

Idiots were saying the iPad HAD TO support multiple users, and to this day it doesn’t unless you do mass deployment in educational setups.

Handhelds are personal devices. Sony has never made any of their personal devices support multiple users in gaming or entertainment realms.

Shit in one hand and put Portal multi-user support in the other and see which one fills up first.

Sounds like you're talking about your Cock. I agree, no one else will touch it.

I'd say in this order of importance:

1) Not having an option to connect directly from console to PS Portal to skip the router and internet connection
2) Not having a good or decent wifi6 router, or having other devices connected to the LAN while playing (may be getting bandwith in the background)
3) The device using wifi5 in the device instead of wifi6 (not sure 100%, but I think it's the case)
4) Maybe the display of the device doesn't have a very low display lag
5) Video codec compression/decompresion time maybe can be improved (maybe the iSize acquisition is for this)
6) Maybe the device doesn't have a hardware decompression chip as the PS4/PS5 have and to have it would help to decompress it faster.

Hmm... How does ps5 handle multiple Portals? Like could you have a line-up of dad's portal, kid's portal, and each portal is a different user account?

Yes, that would be fine, apart from being incredibly silly. No restrictions on multiple remote play devices

He liked it and so maby others have as well. I really want one now.
As a tech person, the way Linus approached this video makes me not trust his tech rigor. Which is a turnaround from a few years ago. The guy who brought a backpack full of USB-C hubs and peripherals to Valve's office for the Deck reveal. Now he's got a guy off screen shouting "150ms latency" and Linus says "wow! Not bad!".

The Portal can be great for what it is, and this is still a super lazy review.

Linus is a fraud. He was completely exposed recently.
