I agree. And I think Sony's solution is to just bump PC prices up to the same as console.I see another Low IQ hanging fruit still not getting through the skulls of some.
"It's been like this since 2013".
Yes and No.
Since 2013 the online paywall has existed on PlayStation, but none of the third party publishers releasing games on PlayStation affected by the online paywall are responsible for setting the online paywall - hence third party publishers have treated their consumers on all platforms equally from that standpoint, from 2013 - 2023 (today).
The online paywall debate for the PS ecosystem prior to today is whether it should exist or not based on several other types of argumentation.
What has changed from 2013 to today is that SONY, not any other third party publisher with no control over the paywall, but SONY itself has decided to treat consumers of its published games in a two tiered system. From this day forward, PlayStation owners pay $80 + $70 = $150 for access to Sony's traditional multiplayer games, while consumers of the same Sony published title on PC pay $70. Sony is the company engaged in unequal treatment of consumers, not other third party publishers. Before Helldivers II there was no clear cut instance of Sony treating its consumers in a two-tiered system. That is, the online paywall existed on PlayStation but all of Sony's consumers in the PlayStation ecosystem were treated equally with the paywall by Sony. With Sony becoming a third party publisher, specifically of traditional Multiplayer Games, that is no longer the case, there is no uniformity of treatment by Sony for ALL of its customers. PlayStation costumers are getting the short end of the stick and PC costumers are not. The difference is Sony's expansion of its consumer base from just PlayStation but also PC.
That is to say, you can bash Sony with sound reason today, whereas before, Sony could excuse itself behind mountains of bullshit to justify the online paywall - as shaky as those grounds are. There is nowhere to hide today under any argumentation. It's clear cut unequal treatment.
This also applies to MS and Xbox with Xbox Live Gold (Gamepass Core now). I belief Xbox's drop off point was when they released Gears 4 on Xbox and PC in 2016 (which happens to have a traditional MP component). So for Sony it's 2013 - Feb 2024. For Microsoft, it was from 2002 to 2016 I believe. It's MS and Xbox - the shitstains of gaming that obviously serve as inspiration for all of it. Unfortunately the Xbox fanbase is toothless and fightless. I think it's becoming clear that the PS fanbase is also toothless and fightless despite all the hollering about being "different".
show us on the doll where the PC touched you.I agree. And I think Sony's solution is to just bump PC prices up to the same as console.
Cheapskates bitching about price going up £10 on PC (at which point console buyers say stfu we pay that much, be thankful you get the game), is better than the optics of treating console customers worse than these Johnny come latelys.
PC is fine. It's Sony fucking up, while Valve looks for the soft spot as they pat them on the back.show us on the doll where the PC touched you.
nintendo takes their cartoon characters and puts them into bad mobile game templates. on PC, playstation releases the best versions of their prestige console games. one's a compromise, the other is improving on greatness.PC is fine. It's Sony fucking up, while Valve looks for the soft spot as they pat them on the back.
Most of Sony's gaff's recently have had some pc-centric slant to them. Just get it all in the bin and refocus on PS ecosystem. Have your "Mario run on mobile moment", like Nintendo, then say "that's enough of that shit" and withdraw again
Pure cope. The PC version is the best version of PT1.

its $33 on PC already through cdkeys...keys that were illegally obtained through stolen credit cards BTW. So Sony's revenue is already taking a big hitHow someone can feasibly defend that Sony does not charge for online multiplayer on PC but does on Playstation is just... Insane. And I wonder if the game will be cheaper on PC to boot.
I'm already mostly gaming on PC, but thats exactly what im gonna do the second they do day/date single player games. Only use PS5 for vr, broken pc ports, and games I wanna own physicallyThis type shit combined with the awful technical assistance I'm getting on my PS5 makes me want to sell it, go PC only and never look back.
Fr Sony better wise upI'm already mostly gaming on PC, but thats exactly what im gonna do the second they do day/date single player games. Only use PS5 for vr, broken pc ports, and games I wanna own physically
I would keep it just for physical games but my PS5 has had a disc drive that isn't working for months and despite still being covered by warranty Sony is stringing me alone for month saying they'll ship me a box for me to send it and then they just don't do it, multiple times, they don't even send an email to confirm things, the last email I got from them was near one month ago.I'm already mostly gaming on PC, but thats exactly what im gonna do the second they do day/date single player games. Thats evil, keep pestering them every day before your warranty expires and they try to say its not their problem anymore....I would keep it just for physical games but my PS5 has had a disc drive that isn't working for months and despite still being covers by warranty Sony is stringing me alone for month saying they'll ship me a box for me to send it and then they just don't do it, multiple times, they don't even send an email to confirm things, the last email I got from them was near one month ago.
I had better support from a cheap Logitech mouse and Corsair RAM sticks than I'm getting from my $500 PlayStation.
Since I don't buy digital I'm unable to play new games.
It's a 15~30min wait every time to speak with them.Thats evil, keep pestering them every day before your warranty expires and they try to say its not their problem anymore....
30 mins wait time isn't that bad, sadly that's pretty much the norm these days for most businesses....It's a 15~30min wait every time to speak with them.
This is the all time low moment for Sony to me. In the past I would ignore a lot of shortcomings because PlayStation was the only way to play many games, now that is not the case anymore and they just keep getting outclasses by PC on pretty much everything. They don't even announce stuff other than GaaS to get us excited about the future of the platform.
In a lot of way it feel like my PlayStation is just an Xbox.
The worst thing about PC (bad ports/Unreal Engine/stutter), isn't even something that hardware manufactures and Steam have control over and in my experience most of it is solved by Linux anyway (if you wait a little bit).
To me that is deeply offensive to assume the costumer can wait that long. Why not offer an asynchronous option that is automated? They now have these horrible pseudo-chats that are a complete joke and are designed to make you give up instead of the old RMA websites that worked much better.30 mins wait time isn't that bad, sadly that's pretty much the norm these days for most businesses....
