But according to Digital Foundry founder Rich Leadbetter, speaking in the latest episode of DF Direct, the PS5 Pro’s CPU means GTA 6 will probably run at 30fps, assuming GTA 6 runs at 30fps on the standard PS5. Given no GTA game has launched with a 60fps option, this one seems nailed on.

Richard Bellender knows fuck all.

Strategy seems to be to downplay the hell out of the PS5 Pro and try to get people to buy GTA 6 on Xbox instead. Parris and Ryan McCaffrey are really obvious about it.

No chance of it ever working, only a complete fool would buy an Xbox after the Series S and Series X disaster.

MS never learns from past mistakes apparently.

They're pushing the idea that GTA6 will sell better on Xbox than PlayStation because the Series S is cheaper, even though that idea has failed all generation.

Thts not even an idea or based on reality. Thts plain old astroturfing and pushing an agenda. No game has sold better on Xbox especially since Sony has outsold the Xbox cumulatively almost 3 to 1. There are way more PS5 consoles out there and thts why every Circana and sales info thread the splits on games look like this

5% Xbox
70% playstation
25% Switch.

Only a complete idiot would buy a Series S over a PS5 DE because of the price difference.

To be honest I don't understand how anyone can buy a Series S for $330~350 (the price that I'm seen on Amazon right now).

I wonder if MS directly feeds these guys talking points or if they're such massive Xbox fanboys that they do this stuff on their own.

Edit - I also find it funny that the "expert" Kepler_l2 mentioned that the card full config has 64 CU organised differently from what we'd expect from RDNA 2 or 3. To put things in perspective, each shader engine usually has 10 WGP, this would require 2 of them to have 16 each. That would be a terrible engineering decision considering how caches are laid out in RDNA cards - and unless Cerny found some gold somewhere, this would be antithetical to his efficient designs.

Kepler is right. RDNA3 on Navi 3x is different from Navi 2x, it uses 8WGP per Shader Engine:

They're claiming the PS5 Pro's GPU is 2/3rds the size of a Navi 31.

I've never seen an official block diagram for Navi 32 so I don't know if it has in fact 64 CUs total and the 7800XT already does have 2 WGPs disabled for redundancy, leaving the solution open for a slightly faster 7800XTX down the road (if/when they get faster spins for the N32 chip).

As for the clockspeeds, I do believe those 2180MHz are base clocks like 2GHz were for the PS5, but until the first batches of production units are out there with final cooling solutions etc. Sony can't compromise on how high they can boost the clocks on average.
I'd say they're confident they can achieve at least those 2450MHz with which they can reach 300 TOPs. Though if N33 on N6 is any indication, we could be looking at closer to 2600MHz on average (which leads the GPU to almost 40 TFLOPs).

It's 33.5 TFLOPs at 2.18GHz.
People just need to stop using max theoretical TFLOPs as gaming performance metrics. If this wasn't obvious to everyone before we saw how the Series X doesn't run anywhere near 20% faster than the PS5, then it should be now.

This mistake isn't new, though. >20 years ago we were all counting pixel and texel fillrate as metrics to compare console performance. And although they're still very important now (probably the biggest reason why the PS5 matches the Series X in real-world performance is its advantage in fillrate and triangle setup), no one is looking at those numbers nowadays.
We all know this, but we also know it will perform to the sum of the rough equivalent of a 16.7 teraflop RDNA 2 GPU. That's the point being made.

The Pro isn't RDNA2, it's custom based on RDNA3 at least.

We are all very aware of this as well, but what nobody else seems to be aware of is that a 35 teraflop RDNA 3 GPU performs to the same degree that a 16 teraflop RDNA 2 GPU does.
