I would be pretty surprised if the CEO of CDPR sold his shares out. I could see an investment stake like Sony did with Fromsoft though.

ehhh not really. I could see it if CDPR owned the rights/IP to witcher or cyberpunk but those are both licensed out. Like I think the thing that gets these studios interested in partnering with or being acquired by Sony are the prospects of crossmedia projects...like Bungie is obviously interested in doing a Destiny movie/tv show and that's part of why they went with Sony.Jim just had to whisper Cyberpunk GaaS in his ear and he was all for it

CDPR owns the Edgerunners anime characters and designs, and that's about it. Mike Pondsmith, the creator of the pen and paper game owns 99.99% of everything else.I think they own a fair bit of the Cyberpunk IP. Not just a licence. They have the trademark for Edgerunners too.

Even Johnny Silverhand was a Mike Pondsmith creation, way back in 1987.

Well...on one hand id love CDPR to be owned by someone with proper quality control to make sure we dont get another Cyberpunk situation
on the other hand Days Gone 2? really? i mean if the PC and PS4/PS5 sales and the demand is there maybe would be enough for Sony to greenlight a sequel at Bend
we shall see i guess
Sony wanting Cyberpunk and Witcher wouldnt surprise me at all
Multimedia projects specifically based on the game. Pondsmith wasn’t fleeced like Sapjkowski was.I think they own more than that. They have the trademarks. They're the ones involved in all the multimedia projects. I would say they have most of the rights to it.
Florian Mueller "I'm not solokingrobert" 'debunked' maybe. I'd like Sony to buy CDPR just so MS couldn't. They'd have their own storefront and would keep CDPR multiplatform.debunked
I’d love it if they bought CDPR and made them PlayStation exclusive while keeping GOG open, just to rub it in.Florian Mueller "I'm not solokingrobert" 'debunked' maybe. I'd like Sony to buy CDPR just so MS couldn't. They'd have their own storefront and would keep CDPR multiplatform.

I think there'd be a lot of pushback because the way CDPR operates GOG doesn't align very well with Sony's corporate values.I’d love it if they bought CDPR and made them PlayStation exclusive while keeping GOG open, just to rub it in.

They are focused on being pro-consumer, anti-DRM (although not as much as they used to be), and offer a very generous refund policy (30 days no questions asked). Sony tends to be extremely tightfisted when it comes to money. How so?
