May 25th is the Corporate Strategy Meeting, where they talk about their future strategy but basically doesn't include meaningful data and almost everything is already known stuff. Here's the last year one as reference.
I assume Totoki was talking partly about it, but specially was talking about the Business Segment Meeting they'll have May 30th, where traditionally they report in a more detailed way their gaming KPIs and strategy. Here's the last year one as reference.
But for sure Totoki wasn't talking about a Showcase because he was talking about SONY GROUP, not SIE/PS.

If any corporation was going to do that, it would be Microsoft. They mastered the art of buying companies to shut them down.
Why act brand new?
Sony usually announces a showcase a week in advance and they don't normally do them on Fridays.
So yes, there is still hope for a showcase this month and there will be hope until the end of the day on the 23rd.
Conversely, they could just do a state of play, which they could announce up little as a day in advance. So that has up to the 29th.
