Sony have no plan to release any major (established) franchise titles this year (April 2024- March 2025)

In Herman we trust. We're getting a new Kojima Stealth franchise because of him. He's the best.

The lack of new games from Sony's elite teams is a big WTF, but it's not Herman or Ryan's fault. There's still making up the difference elsewhere with big 3rd party exclusives and output from newer teams.

You CANNOT blame PC ports for the lack of new announcements from Sucker Punch, Santa Monica, Naughty Dog, etc. PC has nothing to do with that. PC is helping Playstation, and just doubled the sales of Helldivers 2.

To make this clear:

"doomers" said that PC ports would lead to lower console sales. PS just failed their estimates by 4 Million units. The goalpost is now that this number was super ambitious anyway and that it's grand.

"doomers" said that their pipeline was completely dried except for live service games. There's no first-party studio games for this year (so far) except for live service games. The goalpost now is that we just need to wait for 2025.

Doomers have been awfully correct so far. And the bottom line is that 2023 had 1 first-party studio release with Spider-Man 2, 2024 will have fuck all (except for published third parties and live service), and for 2025 we only have Death Strading 2 announced.

👏
But the short windows of release, the rumored PlayStation showcase, the games they are hiding from the FTC, the huge acquisition happening any day now, TLoU Factions, Wolverine in 2024, Death Stranding 2 in the second half of 2024, the next wave of PSVR2 games, etc?

Yeah, their gaming pipeline got fucked as soon as they took over, but somehow it's not their fault. It's probably mine, or yours.

But you can blame PC for the console metrics being much less than expected, which was always the main point. They missed their forecasts by 4 Million units.

You can keep port begging.

Difference, being, Sony still has games, only 3rd party exclusives.

Not the same at all but keep trying. Migh help you with coping with xbox going 3rd party.
Relying on 3rd party isn’t the smartest when MS showed what occurs when you rely on “relationships” & giving consolidation in the gaming industry I can’t 100% sure Sony will continue to get 3rd party games or exclusive what if saudis bought Capcom or Square Enix & didn’t release those games on PS & just released them on Nintendo & PC saudis are invested in Nintendo. Who knows Sony should secure these publisher that have strong ties w the PS brand & by the growth of Nintendo wouldnt be surprised if Square Enix no longer did FF or KH exclusivity. Nintendo had DQ & MH exclusive games will Nintendo get exclusive Resident evil or FF games on Switch 2 who knows

Nobody is saying that you can’t have constructive criticism. But ya’ll are acting like Yankee fans. Acting spoiled and overreacting just because Sony missed their forecasts by 4M consoles. The 25M number was ridiculous and was never really realistic. Not even The Switch sold that much in a quarter. Ya’ll are also overreacting to their 2025 lineup. We already know that DS2 and Venom are launching next year and there are rumors that Firespirte’s new IP is launching next year.
I dont mind them missing 25m lol. 21million sales is awesome. No complaints there from me.

Im just complaining about the lack of games coming from PS studios that are exclusive to PS5. 1 a year is not good enough.

2025 is a different story and they should have multiple games from the PS studios as Asobi, ND, Sucker Punch, Bend, London, Manchester studios, Media Molecule, Bluepoint havent released games in 5 - 6 years by then. Housemarque being 4 years by 2025.
Sony should of prepared them better for the generation like they didInsomniac. Bluepoint made Demons Souls a fully next gen game in 2 years.

I would of taken an Ico, MGS, Soul Reaver, Syphon Filter, Castlevania Sotn remake or something else remade in 2 years easily. Which they hinted at all those titles in there joke/rumour tweet.

We basically know what happened with ND. They developed an ambitious multiplayer game that got mothballed. That's a blow. Whose fault is it? I don't see how you can say Herman Hulst's fault. ND owned the failure to preserve exactly what "the doomers" want: prestige single player games. So now we get nothing.

It is a wild leap to say the availability of 3+ year old games on PC is driving the decline of console sales. The bigger more obvious reason is what we're already talking about: Playstation studios are not hitting this gen.

There's nothing to sort out, Playstation as we know it is done. I've been beating this drum: The moment the previous pipeline of games dried up and Jimbo's work started showing, they have no more games. Even Helldivers 2 was approved before him.
Ronin too. All his legacy is for PC, not PS players.

But only a small team was working on Factions 2. The rest should of been doing something else

It's really hard to see where the next Bloodborne, Heavy Rain, Demon's Souls, Shadow of The Colossus, ICO, etc are going to come from.

To make things even funnier the first day one GaaS PC release seems to have been a major hit.

I have zero confidence building a digital library on PlayStation and I advise anyone sticking around on consoles to at least go for physical media instead.

I'm not an Xbox fanboy, I'm a gaming industry fan.

I like the story of the business of gaming as much as I enjoy gaming.

Keep coping and seething that playstation is headed for another few rough years. I'm sure championing bad decisions because "nuh uh you're a fanboy" will work well. It did for Microsoft, right? Oh wait...

Jim and hermen are the bosses. They should have had the foresight to not push that shit on Naughty Dog. What they did, which is what corporate suits do, is to find a scapegoat in Naughty Dog so they ended up owning shit.

It really isn't. If the expectation is that the game will be available in other platform (one that makes sony less money as well overall), people that are invested in that one platform will be less incentivised to buy games on PS. You can keep pretending otherwise, but that's the truth, and Xbox is living proof of it.

Reading some of the replies in this thread, it sounds like I should bin my ps5 now.

Jesus, people, lighten up,

I looked up how much the store here was willing to give me on my PS5. Turns out it ain't much, so it makes sense to keep it but buying a PS5 Pro or PS6 is going to be a completely different story at this rate. I'm also reconsidering my PSVR2 purchase and we'll have to see where thing are headed to first.

Sadly one of the big draws of PlayStation for me now besides discs, is that it's more convinient to connect my headset too to watch movies. Don Mattrick was into something.

Trolls will troll. Don't fall for the bait 😂 We should all move to tinkering with PCs and spending $800 plus to get 4K on PC and then fight with the damn thing to get consistent 80fps 😂😂 like most ppl will do. You ain't hear? According to some console gamers are moving to PC 😭😭😭

Yuh fr if PS continue PC port or goes day 1 PC why even get a PS just get a Steamdeck 2 & play Xbox games day 1 & PS games day 1 or if they remain 1 year later. No need to pay subscription for online, cheaper games if not outright pirate them, bigger catalog & safer investment

A RX 7600 costs like $200 bro.

There is no law that forces you to play games at max settings or native 4K. You can run them on the same configurations as consoles.

Pretty much any CPU will beat what the consoles have as well and online is free and games are usually cheaper. Using money as the reason to buy consoles makes no sense since you pay more in the long run.

If you want to have a console like experience you boot it on big picture mode, there you go.
