Sony aint keeping GTA or RD exclusive, regs would hang em ot to dry and why walk away from MS money after spending potentially $30 billion on T2?

I have always said the more money sony makes the better. They should buy pubs and devs as a subsidiary, put them on as many platforms as possible to get pass regulators then jack up the rev split to take home a bigger percentage is the best way forward for them. Making less money while spending more money for Sony, and for anyone really is doom, that's a race to the bottom..
Regulators can't do shit, they didn't stop a 2.5 trillion dollars company infamous for their monopolistic practices from buying up the biggest third party publisher in the market after they had just bought Bethesda and made all their games exclusive.

What do you guys expect him to do? Ultimately his job is to do what's best for the company and ultimately at this point its to make sure COD stays on Playstation. He jas a duty to shareholder to make sure Playstation makes money, if not he gets fired. There isn't anything else can do at this point.

He even said previously he didn't want a deal and hoped regulators do their job. Unfortunately they did not so at this point there's nothing he can do.

It will not impact what the CMA does as they dismissed the impact on consoles which I still think was stupid.

Phil Spencer shows he's still a slime ball of the highest degree
Not sign it and start to distance PlayStation from Call of Duty. PlayStation is far bigger than CoD.

Once again Sony is helping Xbox. Marathon, MLB, crossplay, windows ports. Sony deserves what is coming to them, what a bunch of morons.

Should've told them to kick rocks and see how successful CoD will be without PlayStation. That would've been more of a news story than this overpriced acquisition.

Exactly. Politicians and judges are fighting for MS. Sony is completely powerless and they are getting attacked everyday by Microsoft and their lawyers.

There is nothing Jim or Sony can do. Just try to get the best terms and move on.

Is this for real, regulators cant do shit?

Are you in a coma the past 19 months? MS have to fight regs for nearly 2 years, exhausted all their extensions with ABK and went right up to the deadline and its still not over. And you think regs cant do shit?

My man dont waste my time. Saying it now MS and Sony next pub merger is gonna be hell to get thru regs just like this was hell for MS, they are both gonna have to give regs something. None of this was easy for MS(and they deserve to be dragged thru hell, because fuck ms). Most companies would have bailed, this got thru cause MS have the money to stay in it.

And miss me with the Sony blaming shit, sony did nothing wrong during all of this, some of you lot suck at losing, and some of yall really just hate sony or want something to hate for the sake of drama.

It's over, what don't you get? MS got all they wanted in the end and the initial timeline was for the deal to conclude in the first half of 2023 or something, it was hardly delayed.

If MS the owner of Azure, Windows, etc, is allowed to buy ABK without making any promises about making their games multiplataform (with the sole expection of CoD for the next 10 years), what would be the argument against Sony acquiring anyone?

The deadline was for 2023, correct, but it required ABK and MS agreeing at each point of extension. If regs as you put it was so weak they would have got this dont before the 1st extension.

MS will have to allow they shit on all these cloud competitors plus share rev with sony and nintendo, how does that sound like they got all they wanted.

They wanted to pull cod after 3 years now they have to commit to 10.

I mean they will stop highlighting COD but again its literally his job to do what is best for the company and at this point it's to make sure COD stays on Playstation for it least the meantime.

He was also likely told from by his superiors that if the FTC fails to sign the deal.

He held out as long as he could but the FTC and American judicial system and Microsoft fucked him and us and everyone that enjoys gaming. It's a shit system ruled by the rich.

They also acquired Bungie to make sure they also keep games on Playstation as apparently it's okay for trillionaire company's to acquire whatever the fuck they want and needed to secure the second earning FPS franchise on Playstation. Itll make the tons of money at least.

How naive are you? Why do you think Sony signed it now? Why do you think the CMA schedule something for July 17?

Some of you are in deep denial. ABK is now going to be a part of MS and apparently Sony will even give them preferential treatment over other third party publisher by not charging the standard 30%.

Too bad, they have no chance do be relevant outside consoles. PlayStation is the console.

PlayStation is selling more than ever, so why does it matter if consoles aren't growing as fast as mobile/cloud/Steam? PlayStation should had nothing to do with any of that.

But they see the way the market is heading.

Give it 10 years, they'll be a memory unless they adapt.

Look at MS with office etc. 365 and Azure are the future.

yeah, a PS that makes less money is great for SIE business and the community that values that business. Some of you guys kill me with this weak shit.

Fuck them then, I like PlayStation not GaaS/PC ports/mobile.

They see a competitor that is far behind them willing to spend $80B+ to catch up but they don't realize the value of their own business? Morons.

Without PlayStation Sony wouldn't be in the top 10 biggest publishers in the world, they would be another Sega, quality would go down fast and plenty of studios would be closed.

We dont know that. Court documents show that MS will give Sony 30% (industry standard), a whopping 10% more than what ABK was giving sony. They fitting to make more money.

But the sleazeball won't say for how many years. They truth is they don't want COD to remain on PS for long.

This old proposal already extended several times.

I agree that 3 years after the actual deal was really inadequate to Sony… it was up to end of 2026.

Now a 10 years deal like Nintendo put it at minimum end of 2033… if that is the case then Jimbo got what he wanted.

I have enough faith Jim will try to get the best deal he could for his platform? But who even knows... Playstation leadership itself is full of weak men.

I know Kutaragi would have told them to kick rocks. The lack of mentioning other games is concerning though.

But what to do?

It better be 30% or else Sony leadership lost their mind.

Take the 30% and the spend the next years undermining this IP, refusing to promote it, investing in direct competitors, etc.

Both companies have a multiplatform strategy in place.

It also hurts all parties involved to remove CoD off PlayStation in the short term. That’s where the console money is and Xbox isn’t going to turn away PlayStation money when their own hardware underperforms.

The revenge porn stuff to block Activision games on PlayStation is ridiculous fanboy shit

Replace Sony with Nintendo and think how they would react, Nintendo would double down on their own games and on consoles.

Sorry to break it to you.

But multinational corporations don't act like jilted fanboys.

Everything will continue as normal.

How is it better for me? I would be fine with no CoD on PlayStation and Sony being completely adverse to working with MS.

Sorry to break it to you, but we saw from MS own words that the plan it to outspend Sony out of business. If Sony thinks that is ok, then fuck them, they deserve all that is coming for them, to bad it will be at the expense of the traditional console market.
