They're a mobile game/vfx studioNever heard of them. How boring
they make some games i'm not familiar with, and the latest atelier game (Atelier Resleriana, came out this summer iirc). They also work on a romancing saga mobile game for squenix. They look decently talented for modern mobile games, but maybe don't stand out too much compared to other mobile game makers like hoyoverse, the people behind punishing gray raven, tower of fantasy, etc

Looking at how MS acquisition of Bethesda, Activision and Blizzard is going I don't think buying any western publisher would be a good idea for Sony. Even just Bungie seems to have been a mistake.
Japanese publisher are a lot more interesting but individual devs are even better. PlayStation needs to reassess the idea that it's only worthy to them to produce AAA games, that is how we ended up with a year like 2023 with pretty much just a single release (not counting the VR game).
Looking at the recent sales leaked numbers it's and how well Drive Club sold it's pretty obvious Sony should have an arcade racing series to take the wind out of Xbox even further. They should try to put that studio back together.
At least Sony owns Naruto now.

They primarly make mobile games (and occasionally PC), even achieved top 1 in Japanese mobile game sales ranking multiple times. They also have a manga division, and some of their IPs even have anime adaptations. The deal is because they want Sony and Koei's help to grow in the west and expand to PC and consoles, plus also to make games with them. So like NC Soft they'll make mobile games for Sony.

Are you sure this is from the Insomniac leak? Because I saw it in that Twitter account from a fictional former Sony employee that constantly posts fake stuff about supposed acquisitions that Sony doesn't make.

As I said this is not a deal between Tecmo and Sony to get stuff like Wild Hearts, Dead or Alive, Nioh and Ninja Gaiden.
It's a deal for Akatsuki to bring their gacha games (maybe developed by Tecmo) to consoles. The lack of any interest and discussion regarding this news is very telling.

I don’t know where it’s from. Source was Reddit. That would be too simple to scratch it off as fake. We have seen from the Insomniac leak SIE internal stuff which is normally not supposed to be found on Insomniac servers. The hackers have allegedly gained trough Insomniac’s network access to Sony Group servers. The post was already deleted. I only saved the picture before it was deleted.

Hm if that’s the guy, I can see why someone would be sceptical. Regardless I have heard the info from different sources than this Smith guy and before he made his tweet, that’s it’s being reported that Sony will have a big acquisition in Q1 FY24.
So you have your own sources? Good then. I really hope Sony does something big and buy Square Enix. It needs to be done.
