There are many reasons that can be applied to any 3rd party dev or publisher:Yea but why would Capcom want to get bought by Sony? They're in the best spot they've ever been in. Monster Hunter prints money. Resident Evil is as big as ever. SF6 looks great. Them too don't need Sony
- Money to grow their existing teams and create new ones
- Money to get extra time and budget for their games
- Money to get way bigger marketing support
- Money to make movies, tv shows and anime of their IPs
- Key data from all games published on PS by everybody including direct 3rd party competition, including the ones to be published in the next few years
- Internal tech, data, support and know how from other Sony dev teams
- No longer have to pay the 30%, devkits, testkits, etc. on PS
- No longer have to handle PR, CM, marketing, CS, QA, localization and many other stuff that now Sony would handle for them
You are the one who should get real and start accepting facts instead of believing fanboy fantasies that go against facts.Oh get real lmao, battered wives syndrome just never ends with you guys.
The controversies were heavily affecting the stocks so the best options for the key shareholders to sell to someone who would pay at the pre-controversies and that would have experience on handling/solving/hiding these controversies without firing the guys on top because themselves had a bigger same/very similar case in the past and did it. So MS was the perfect choice to acquire them.I mean....did Activision need MS? (That's somewhat an honest question) You never know what's gonna happen these days.
They wasn't but they are now. They've successfully revived Cyberpunk. The CP show was a massive success. The CP2077 DLC comes next year. Sequel is in development. 2 Witcher games are in development
They don't need Sony for anything.
The Cyberpunk 2077 release disaster destroyed the market valuation of CD Projekt. It was 44.3M PLN (now it's $9.4B, back then were more) just before the release, it's 12.4M PLN ($2.6B). Key shareholders pretty likely would like to sell the company while still continues overvalued but pretty likely nobody wants to buy it because thinks that CDP continues to be overvalued and that needs to fire and replace a good chunk of their management and change the company culture.
Pretty likely the least interested on acquiring them is Sony, who had to remove the game of their store, something they never had to do before, due to its bad quality.
CDP doesn't own any IP, so for any big publisher remotely interested on them it would be better to buy other Polish studio or create a new one there and hire the interesting individuals from them and put them under capable managers instead of overpaying and to keep releasing shitty console ports as they did until now.
